� Ed and Lynn Hogan, founders of
Pleasant Holidays, will be honored by the Travel & Tourism Marketing
Association (TTMA) with the 2003 Anastasia K. Mann Leadership Award.
TTMA�s Anastasia K. Mann Leadership Award is presented to innovative tourism
leaders who have made a lasting positive impact on the travel and tourism
industry. The special award ceremony will take place on October 2,
2003 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel.
Ed and Lynn Hogan opened their first retail travel agency, Pleasant
Travel Service, in

1962, they moved to California to better serve their most in-demand destination
of Hawaii. As other travel agencies began asking them for help in
developing travel packages to Hawaii, Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays, now the
largest travel company to the region, was born. Over the next ten
years, the Hogans expanded their travel empire by purchasing six hotels
in Hawaii and California. Today, Ed Hogan is the Chairman of the
Board of Pleasant Holidays and the company is owned by AAA of Southern
California. Pleasant Holidays now employs more than 1,700 people
and their total revenues currently approach $500 million annually.

In 1998, Ed & Lynn Hogan established the Hogan Family Foundation,
a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting a greater understanding
of the importance of travel and tourism within our society and the world
as a whole. The organization creates and operates educational, humanitarian,
and civic-minded programs that encourage meaningful communication between
persons and cultures. The Foundation funds entrepreneurial studies
at Gonzaga University in Washington, D.C. and Chaminade University in Hawaii.
Other Foundation programs include the Foster Care Children�s Support Program,
the Travel and Tourism Mobile Classroom and the Hogan Angel Flight Program.
TTMA is an organization devoted to providing a forum for the exchange
of ideas and information among professionals from diverse tourism industry
sectors. TTMA seeks to enhance the effectiveness and knowledge of professionals
working in the travel and tourism industry by offering a variety of education
and networking activities including special events, monthly programs, mixers
and workshops. |
