Gérard Van Grinsven, General Manager of the Ritz-Carlton Dearborn,
has been promoted to Vice President & Area General Manager. In addition
to the Ritz-Carlton Dearborn, he will have Area oversight for Ritz-Carlton
Hotels in St. Louis and Cleveland. A Dutchman, Van Grinsven started his
career with Ritz-Carlton in 1994 at the Ritz-Carlton Seoul as Executive
Assistant Manager, Food and Beverage.
Christian Mari has been appointed General Manager at the Mayflower Renaissance
Hotel. He will be taking over from George Cook who will retire in August
concluding a 34-year career with Marriott and Renaissance. Mari, a 1973
Cornell Hotel graduate, transfers from the 1,400-room Philadelphia Marriott.
Bunty Ahamed has been appointed General Manager at the Sheraton Wildhorse
Resort and Spa in Phoenix. He takes over from Allen Kramme who left the
company. Ahamed was previously the General Manager of the Phoenician and
held the same position at the Westin Mission Hills.
Philip Kendall, former Vice President Food and Beverage for Starwood,
and, prior to that, Hyatt, will be Meadowood's new Managing Director, as
of early August.
Wanda Chan has been appointed General Manager at the Warwick New York.
Most recently, she served as Executive Assistant Manager and acting General
Manager at Swissôtel New York, the Drake. Chan, who holds an MBA
from UC Irvine, started her hotel career in 1983 at Honolulu¹s Halekulani.
Steven Schaefer has been promoted to General Manager at the Ritz-Carlton
Jupiter Golf Club from his former position as Executive Assistant Manager,
Food & Beverage at the Ritz-Carlton Naples.
David Smith has been named General Manager of the Hilton Cancun Beach
& Golf Resort in Mexico. Most recently, he served as Resident Manager
for both the Hilton New Orleans Riverside and the Hilton New Orleans Airport,
a position held since 1996.
Meg Galletti has been named Vice President of Human Resources at the
Turning Stone Casino Resort. Galletti, a former Vice President Human Resources
for Rosewood Hotels and Resorts, also served in senior human resources
positions for Four Seasons.
Nicolas Daeppen has left the Helmsley Park Lane in New York where he
was the General Manager & Vice President Operations for Helmsley Hotels.
Prior to that, he served as Resident Manager at the Swissôtel New
York for over two years.
Mark Tamis has left the Four Seasons Newport Beach where he was the
Hotel Manager to become the General Manager of the Delano in Miami Beach.
He began his career with Four Seasons in 1988 at the Four Seasons Dallas.
After a stint in Santa Barbara he left the company very briefly to open
his own restaurant, and then rejoined the Four Seasons Santa Barbara and
was soon after promoted to the Four Seasons Nevis as Hotel Manager.
Taking over from Tamis as Hotel Manager at the Four Seasons Newport
Beach is Tom Roelens. Roelens had joined the hotel four months ago as its
Director of Food and Beverage, transferring from the temporarily shuttered
Regent of Jakarta, where he was the Executive Assistant Manager.
Todd Iacono will be the new General Manager of Stephen Hanson¹s
soon-to-open (2004) Hotel James in Scottsdale. He was previously
the General Manager at Eric Goode¹s hip Maritime Hotel in New York.
James Horsman has been appointed General Manager at the Hotel Nine Zero
in Boston. He will take over from Janne Clare who moved to Avalon in Beverly
Hills. Horsman who also held various positions for the Ritz-Carlton Hotel
Company for twelve years, was most recently the General Manager of the
Adam¹s Mark Buffalo. His successor there is Raynard Lawler, who moves
up from Hotel Manager at the Adam's Mark St Louis. An eighteen year Hyatt
veteran, Lawler also took part in the opening of the Loews Philadelphia.
There is a new Loews (very near) Beverly Hills. The former Renaissance
is owned by Strategic Capital, which also owns the Loews Santa Monica Beach
Hotel. Gary Rohanna is the General Manager of the (near) Beverly Hills
property. He began his career with Loews more than ten years ago working
in various capacities in several properties including the Loews Annapolis
Hotel, Loews Coronado Bay Resort, the Metropolitan Hotel and, most recently,
the Regency.
Sharon Kilmartin has been named General Manager at the Hotel InterContinental
Dallas. She takes over from Michael Spamer who is the new General Manager
of the Watergate in Washington DC. Prior to coming to Dallas, Kilmartin
held the position of General Manager at the May-Fair InterContinental London.
David Nadelman has been named General Manager of the new Hyatt Regency
Boston Financial District. He started his career in 1980 at the Grand Hyatt
in New York City. He then served in management positions at several Hyatt
properties, before his current position at the Hyatt Regency Boston. Also
at the Hyatt Regency Boston, Irby Morvant has been named Director of Sales
and Marketing. Previously, he was Director of Sales and Marketing for the
Hyatt Regency Cleveland.
At the Elegant Hotels Group in Barbados, Romana Heeg has been appointed
General Manager of the 96-room Colony Club Hotel. Prior to her appointment,
Heeg was the General Manager of Cambridge Beaches in Bermuda. She also
served as Executive Assistant Manager of Little Dix Bay.
Alain Tsui has been appointed Director of Food and Beverage at the Four
Seasons Resort Aviara. He had been working at the Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai
as the Executive Assistant Manager in charge of Food and Beverage since
pre-opening in March of 2001. Prior to that, he was the Director of Food
and Beverage at the Regent Hong Kong (now the InterContinental Hong Kong)
for almost four years.
Pierre Albaladejo has been appointed Executive Chef at Four Seasons
Aviara in Carlsbad. He will be replacing Pascal Vignau who left to open
his own restaurant. Most recently, Albaledejo worked in a similar position
at the Four Seasons Maui. Prior to that, he was with Ritz-Carlton for over
five years.
Jorge Moran has recently been appointed Food and Beverage Director at
Mayan Peñasco in Sonora, Mexico. He was until a few months ago the
Director of Food and Beverage at the Four Seasons Punta Mita.
Cristina Romero-Peri has been appointed Director of Sales and Marketing
at One&Only Palmilla, based in Los Angeles. She is replacing Jim Miller,
Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Romero-Peri rejoins Palmilla¹s
Managing Director Ed Steiner who was her Managing Director at Las Ventanas
Al Paraiso. Sue Laing, Director of Group Sales for Palmilla, has also left
the company.
Ellen Sinclair has been promoted to the position of Regional Vice President
for Benchmark Hospitality. Before joining Benchmark, Sinclair was General
Manager of the Radisson Hotel & Suites of Fairfield, New Jersey.
Cecilia Moore has been appointed Director of Human Resources at the
Ritz-Carlton Chicago. She transfers from the former Four Seasons Seattle
where she held the same position.
Frank Spielvogel has been appointed Executive Assistant Manager in charge
of Rooms at the Ritz-Carlton Miami. Previously, he worked in a similar
position at the Swissôtel Chicago.
Peggy Thompson will be joining the Four Seasons Austin as Director of
Marketing from the former Four Seasons Seattle where she has been the Director
of Marketing for the past two years.
Ed Gunderson has been appointed General Manager at the St. Anthony,
a Wyndham Hotel. Most recently, he served as General Manager at the Tutwiler,
a Wyndham Historic Hotel in Birmingham. His tenure with Wyndham began in
1993 when he served as Hotel Manager of the Wyndham Midtown in Atlanta.
Mario Cuevas joins the St. Anthony as Hotel Manager after serving as
the Director of Food and Beverage at the Wyndham Arlington-DFW Airport
South. Prior to that, Cuevas was Director of Food and Beverage outlets
at the Wyndham Arlington.
Fredrik Nyborg will be taking over as Director of Food and Beverage
at the Sofitel Chicago Water Tower. He is leaving the Adams Mark Buffalo,
which he joined as Director of Food and Beverage a year ago. Nyborg also
worked for Ritz-Carlton in Puerto Rico, Philadelphia, Shanghai and Osaka.
At Sofitel, he will be replacing Doris Timmen who is leaving the company.
Richard Sorensen has been promoted to the position of Room Division
Director at the Four Seasons Carmelo. He has been with Four Seasons since
1994 when he joined the Four Seasons Vancouver as Assistant Front Office
Manager.
David Mason is the new Director of Engineering at the Four Seasons Newport
Beach. He is transferring from the former Four Seasons Seattle, where he
began his Four Seasons career in 1999 as the Assistant Director of Engineering.
Joshua Brown has been appointed Director of Sales at Lajitas Resort
in Rio Grande, Texas. He was previously the National Sales Manager for
Omni Hotels in Texas and Southern California. He began his career in 1987
at the Four Seasons Dallas, where he stayed for four years.
Brian Butterworth has been appointed Director of Rooms at the Regent
Beverly Wilshire. He replaces Michael Sharlet who moved on to the Four
Seasons Atlanta in the same capacity. Most recently, Butterworth was the
Assistant Director of Rooms and then was promoted to Director of Rooms
at the Four Seasons Olympic in Seattle where he worked for two years. The
Olympic is no longer a Four Seasons hotel. Sharlet originally joined the
Beverly Wilshire as its Front office Manager.
Ivor Williams has been appointed General Manager at the Hotel Culver
in Culver City. Most recently, he worked for six years as the General Manager
of the Westwood Pacific Hotel in Los Angeles.
Roland Venturini will be in charge of Food and Beverage Operations at
Chateau du Sureau in Oakhurst, California. Venturini was until fairly recently
the Food and Beverage Director at the Hotel Bel-Air.
Rowena Jurado has been appointed National Travel Industry Sales Manager
at the Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay. She most recently was at Ian Schrager¹s
Clift, where she served as a Sales Manager.
Tim Estes has been appointed Director of Hotel Operations for the Grand
Teton Lodge Company. He previously was the Chicago-based Midwest and Mountain
Region Director of Operations for the Kimpton Hotel Group. He also held
the position of General Manager and Partner of the Peery Hotel in Salt
Lake City.
George Sotelo has been appointed Director of Food and Beverage at the
soon-to-reopen One&Only Palmilla. Prior to joining Palmilla, he was
the Executive Assistant Manager/Director of Food & Beverage for the
Sonesta Beach Resort Key Biscayne. Sotelo has also held executive positions
with the Hotel InterContinental New York and the Grand Bay Hotel Miami.
Volker Brunk has been appointed to the Grenada Grand Beach Resort &
Convention Center as Sales Director. Previously, he was the Director of
Sales and Marketing at Andel¹s Hotel Prague and then a Sales Director
for Steigenberger.
Linda Rubin has been appointed National Sales Manager at the Ritz-Carlton
Tyson¹s Corner. Rubin was previously Director of Group Sales at the
Hay-Adams.
Director of Marketing Denise Chapman is transferring from the Claremont
Resort & Spa to the same position at La Costa Resort & Spa. Both
the Claremont and La Costa are KSL Resorts. Prior to joining the Claremont,
Chapman worked as Director of Marketing at the Sonoma Mission Inn &
Spa, now a Fairmont hotel.
Alex Gomez has been appointed Director of Sales and Marketing at the
Warwick New York. Prior to that, he held the position of Director of Sales
at Swissôtel New York the Drake.
Toby Reivant has left the position as Restaurant Manager at the Auberge
du Soleil. His successor is Stephen Judge, formerly the General Manager
at Roxanne¹s in Larkspur and a former Major Domo at Masa¹s. Before
joining the Auberge du Soleil, Reivant held the position of Director of
Restaurants at the St. Regis Los Angeles.
David Bodette has left his position of Director of Food and Beverage
at the Auberge du Soleil. He was previously in the same position at the
Grand Hyatt Elliott Seattle.
David Taylor has been appointed Director of Sales and Marketing for
Le Méridien Boston. A 23-year veteran of hotel sales and marketing,
Taylor has held numerous positions at Swissôtel/Raffles International
during eight of the past ten years. Most recently he spent a year
in London as Regional Director of Sales and Marketing, UK, which included
sales and marketing efforts for Raffles Brown¹s Hotel and Swissôtel
The Howard.
Brad Packer, formerly of Island Outpost in Miami, has been appointed
Director of Public Relations at Noble House Hotels and Resorts in Coconut
Grove, Florida.
Olivier Heuchenne, formerly the Executive Assistant Manager Food and
Beverage at the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong, has been appointed Area Director
of Food and Beverage for China Grill Management / Ian Schrager Hotels in
London. As such, he oversees such operations as Asia de Cuba and Tuscan
at St Martin¹s Lane, as well as Spoon+ (a joint venture with Alain
Ducasse) at Sanderson¹s.
Pascal Féraud is the Executive Chef of Spoon+ at Ian Schrager's
Sanderson in London. Féraud was picked by Spoon+ concept developer
Alain Ducasse, following a four-year tenure as Chef de Cuisine at Paris'
tony Maison Blanche restaurant.
After over fifteen years with Hyatt International, Alan Love has been
appointed Regional Director of Marketing of Hilton's two Conrad properties
in Ireland, the Conrad International Dublin and the Conrad Mount Juliet.
Love¹s most recent position was Regional Director of Marketing for
South America for Hyatt International.
Tracy Fitz has been named Director of Sales and Marketing for the Hotel
Derek in Houston. Fitz came from the Lake Austin Spa Resort. Fitz also
held the Sales and Marketing positions at the Omni Houston Hotel and the
St. Regis Houston.
Also at the Hotel Derek, David Gugino has been named Director of Catering.
Gugino was the General Manager of the Courtyard on St. James and Director
of Catering at Houston¹s St. Regis and Ritz-Carlton.
Fred Ruiz has been appointed Executive Chef at the CasaMagna
Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort. Previously, Ruiz was Executive Chef
at the Denver Marriott Southeast. Prior to that, he served as Executive
Chef at the Chicago Marriott.
Didier Ageorges has been appointed Executive Chef at Chalk Hill Vineyard.
Most recently, he worked as Terrace Restaurant Chef at the Ritz-Carlton
San Francisco.
Jean-Marie Auboine has been appointed recently Executive Pastry Chef
at the Hotel Presidente Inter-Continental in Mexico City. He was previously
the Pastry Chef at La Pyramide in Vienne.
Jordi Blist will be the Executive Chef at New Spanish Concepts, which
includes a Tapas Restaurant, a Spanish Fine Dining Restaurant, a Traditional
Spanish Pastry Shop and Specialty Retail in Miami. Previously, he had spent
five years with Ritz-Carlton in Barcelona, Cancun and Key Biscayne as Chef
de Cuisine.
Nicolas Legret has been appointed Executive Sous Chef at the Sofitel
Washington, DC. He will be replacing Anthony Clemot who has left the company
to open his own restaurant. Prior to that, Legret held the same position
at Le Mas Perrier in Wayne, Pennsylvania.
Eric Cousin has been appointed at the Beau Rivage Hotel and Casino in
Biloxi, Mississippi as Executive Sous-Chef. Prior to that, he served as
Executive Sous Chef at New York's Plaza for three years. He will be rejoining
Executive Chef Joseph Friel who used to be the Banquet Chef at the Plaza.

Dix Bay. He was previously in a similar position at La Costa in Carlsbad,
also for a mere few months.
Christian Kasseck, formerly the Executive Chef at Donald Trump's Mar-A-Lago
in Palm Beach, has been appointed Banquet Chef at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
Kasseck began his career at the Berkeley in London as Chef de Partie, and
worked for Ritz-Carlton in Boston, Atlanta, Rancho Mirage and Palm Beach
in various culinary positions.
Toni Robertson is the new Executive Chef at the St. Regis Los Angeles.
She took over from Jesse Lapitan. Most recently, she helped develop a new
Pan Asian restaurant concept position for the Darden Restaurant Group in
Orlando. Robertson was also, for four years, the Corporate Executive Chef
for Wine Country Hotels, a company, which owned and operated the Sonoma
Mission Inn and Ventana.
Phil Evans is the new Executive Chef at the St. Regis Aspen. He comes
from the St. Regis Houston, where he was Executive Sous-Chef. He replaces
Kevin Maguire, who moved on to the Tides Inn in Virginia.
Robert Rechterman, formerly of the Hilton Short Hills, is now the Director
of Food & Beverage of the Ritz-Carlton Hotels in Boston.
Walter Plendner is the new Executive Chef at the New York Marriott at
the Brooklyn Bridge. He comes from the New York Marriott World Trade Center,
where he was also the Executive Chef. Plendner had started in the now razed
hotel when it opened as the Vista International New York.
Olivier de Saint Martin is the new Chef/Owner at the Caribou Café
in Philadelphia. De Saint Martin and his wife Barbara are taking the restaurant
over from Bruno Pouget.
Brian Ehrlich has been appointed Director of New Acquisitions at the
Kor Hotel Group. He joins Kor after more than eight years at Secured Capital
Corporation.
Janne Clare has been named General Manager at Kor's Avalon. Previously,
she held the same position at the Hotel Nine Zero in Boston, which she
opened. Prior to joining Nine Zero, she spent fifteen years for Starwood
Hotels and Resorts in various positions.
Maurizio Trinchera has been appointed Food and Beverage Director at
the Estrella Resort and Spa in Palm Springs. Previously, he worked in Food
and Beverage in various properties such as Caffe'torino Ristorante, the
Little Nell, Farfalla and La Baita in Aspen.
Josh Thomsen, Chef de Cuisine at Simon Kitchen & Bar at the Hard
Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas is leaving. He has been appointed
Executive Sous Chef at the Lodge at Pebble Beach. Previously, he was the
Executive Sous Chef at the Mansion at the MGM Grand. Prior to that, Thomsen
was Chef de Cuisine at the Hotel Bel-Air and Chef de Partie at the French
Laundry.
Brad Pustilnik, a hotel graduate from Cornell, has been appointed Regional
Director of Sales at Four Seasons' Atlanta Worldwide Sales Office. He began
his career with Four Seasons in 1996 and spent the last two years at the
Four Seasons Atlanta.
Daphne Higa has been appointed Pastry Chef at the Hotel Del Coronado.
She previously worked in Hawaii at the Grand Wailea and the Four Seasons
Maui.
Dalo de La Paz has been promoted from Assistant Pastry Chef to Pastry
Chef at the Four Seasons Washington, DC. He started his Four Seasons career
at the Four Seasons Maui in 1991. |
