NEW YORK CITY � Kevin H. Smith, 50, has been promoted to executive vice president/general manager at the 1,013-room New Yorker Hotel Ramada Inn & Plaza.

Mr. Smith, who was most recently managing director, has been on the board of directors of the hotel since 1993 � a position he will continue to retain.

A resident of Mamaroneck, N.Y.  with his wife, Karen Judd Smith, and their children, Ozzie, Kerestell and Janell, Mr. Smith graduated from Northwestern University in 1974 with a B.S. in anthropology.  He is

studying for a masters in management and systems at New York University.
