Samuel R. Schorr Named General Manager at Ocean Place
Resort & Spa, Long Branch, New Jersey
LONG BRANCH, NJ - April 28, 2003 - Ocean Place Resort & Spa has announced the appointment of Samuel R. Schorr as general manager.

Schorr will oversee all operations for the 254-room oceanfront property which features 38 meeting rooms and 42,000 square feet of event and function space, a full-service spa, deluxe health and fitness center with indoor and outdoor heated pools, two lighted tennis courts and two restaurants and lounge. 

�We�re pleased Sam has joined Ocean Place Resort & Spa as general manager,� said Scott Spann, president and chief operating officer of Tiburon Hospitality Management, which manages the property.  �His level of experience and expertise in hotel operations and strategic development will play a key role in helping to reposition the resort in the future and to take Ocean Place Resort & Spa to the next level in a highly competitive market.�

Schorr brings more than 30 years of hospitality experience to his new position, 22 of those years in executive management.  He has been general manager at a number of upscale, luxury boutique properties including the Rosario Resort & Spa, a Rockresort property in Washington (Orcas Island); the Marriott Key Largo Bay Beach Resort in Key Largo; and the Brazilian Court in Palm Beach, Fla.  Most recently, he was general manager of the exclusive 100-room Sam Houston Hotel in Houston, Texas, where he was responsible for pre-opening and opening operations.  Schorr also has extensive experience in food and beverage management and accounting systems including cost control and purchasing.

His memberships include the Cornell Hotel Society, Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs, L�Ordre Mondial Des Gourmets Degustateurs, New Orleans Mardi Gras Krewe of Endymion and Santa Clara University Alumni. 

Schorr holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, Ca., and has a Master of Professional Studies from the acclaimed School of Hotel Administration, Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y. 

Located on the New Jersey shore less than an hour from Newark International Airport and midtown Manhattan, Ocean Place Resort & Spa has been at the forefront of the revitalization of historic Long Branch and is a two-time recipient of the prestigious Meetings & Conventions gold Key Award.
