James B. Singerling, CEO of Club Managers Association of
America, Honored for Support of Hospitality Management
by the Univeristy of Delaware

October 18, 2001 - James B. Singerling was named University of Delaware's Club Education Champion at the 9th Annual student Club Managers Association of America Appreciation dinner at the Wilmington Country Club on October 9, 2001.

During his eleven year tenure as CEO of CMAA, Mr. Singerling has been a major supporter of Hospitality Management programs across the United States, and a " Champion of Education", especially for students in the hospitality program.  Club Managers Association of America has helped to sponsor travel by students to the annual CMAA conventions.  This year, the 9th Annual dinner at the University of Delaware will help fund students to go to San Antonio, the site of this year's annual CMAA Convention.

The CMAA Blue Hen Chapter hosts a well-respected leadership exercise, providing a great learning opportunity to HRIM students to develop, organize and execute a superb educational activity as well as a fine dining experience to club managers and their guests in the region.  "I am proud that this year the student chapter will contribute ten percent of the proceeds to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund through Club Industry for America," said Dr. Poorani, the Faculty Advisor for the UD CMAA Blue Hen Chapter.

Each year, the student chapter of CMAA at the University of Delaware will honor an industry or professional "Champion of Education" for their support of student education and professional development.
