Calgary, Alberta, Canada On Tuesday, January 16, 2001, VIP International
successfully switched 93 Candlewood Suites from their former reservation
service provider over to VIPs complete reservations solution.
VIP International, through its business partnership with SynXis Corporation,
is now providing all 93 Candlewood Suites across the United States with
Global Distribution System (GDS) connectivity, using the simple yet revolutionary
SynXis Agent system. VIP international is also handling all voice reservation
services for Candlewood Suites through a professionally trained 24-hour
accessible voice-center, located in VIP Internationals World Headquarters
in Calgary, Canada.
In October, we stated that our decision to go
with VIP International was because they were able to offer Candlewood the
most advanced reservation technology solution in the industry, along with
the level of service required to benefit from this technology, explains
Pam Carr, Candlewood Hotel Co.s national reservation systems manager.
The quality of work that VIP has provided Candlewood on the switch, including
database builds, training, and ensuring the MAI one-way interface was complete,
makes us extremely optimistic about our partnership future with VIP.
Our success with the Candlewood implementation can be directly attributed
to the incredible project planning and management provided by some key
members of the VIP team, in addition to a company-wide focus on ensuring
a smooth transition, said Kelly Blake, president of VIP International.
The whole Candlewood project is a testament to our organizations 20-plus
year history in the industry, and the commitment to providing the highest
quality of service to our clients by each employee at VIP.
With the transition to VIP International and SynXis Corporations SynXis
Agent system, each Candlewood Suites property has the ability to manage
all of their reservation booking channels through one secure Internet site.
The SynXis Agent technology is browser-based and provides real-time, seamless
connectivity to the four major GDS and Internet content providers, from
Sabre to Galileo, Travelocity to Expedia.com. The connectivity will offer
all Candlewood Suites extensive exposure to over 600,000 travel agents
and travel planners worldwide, via the YO chain code.

Founded in August 1996, SynXis Corporation develops Internet
and intranet applications utilizing network computing and distributed object
- oriented database technologies. The company has successfully implemented
new software systems in two vertical markets: hotel and telecommunications.
The name SynXis can be broken down into the prefix syn
and the suffix sis. Syn is borrowed from ancient Greek and means with
or together. Sis is also from ancient Greek and means a process or action.
Combine the two together and we have an action taken together or joint
effortin a word: synergy. This synergy applies equally to the software
solutions created by the company and the partnerships SynXis forms with
major industry leaders.
Hotel Solutions
For the last two years, SynXis engineers have worked closely
with the hospitality industry to develop a low-cost, highly functional,
and expandable hotel reservation system that maintains a single, real-time
representation of property inventoryaccessible by all booking sources.
Without such a product, a truly effective system of yield management is
difficult, if not impossible, to implement.
SynXis Agent leverages years of research and development
in the field of distributed object computing and opens the door for an
unparalleled leap forward in the profitability of small to medium size
hotel chains.
SynXis Agent is a low-cost, highly functional reservation
management system for the hospitality industry: This innovative application
of on-line technology creates a single real-time image of room availability
that allows hotel owners and managers to significantly improve yield. By
charging its customers on a per-transaction basis, SynXis shifts the cost
of inventory management from a capital expense (hardware & software)
to a web-based operating expense.
