Tropicana expanding meeting space (Las Vegas Sun)

By Richard N. Velotta, Las Vegas SunMcClatchy-Tribune Regional News

June 04--The Tropicana Las Vegas, one of the last of the iconic classic Strip hotel brands, is expanding its meetings and conventions area in the property's Club Tower.

The company announced today that its facility would grow from 60,000 square feet to more than 100,000 square feet with the addition of five breakout rooms on the second floor of the tower. The new breakout rooms will be naturally lit and have separate restrooms.

The new rooms will be added to the Club Tower's three ballrooms which can be transformed to 19 breakout rooms.

"We are thrilled to accommodate the increasing requests of our business customers for additional space," said Gavin Mealiffe, vice president of sales for Tropicana Las Vegas, in a statement announcing the project. "Our new breakout rooms will allow smaller groups to have their own intimate space, ensuring greater privacy and will also help free up our bigger spaces for larger corporate meetings and events."

As part of the transformation, the resort is expanding the Tropicana Pavilion, which is a wing of Tropicana Las Vegas' conference center. When combined with existing space in the Tropicana Pavilion, the venue will offer more than 55,000 square feet that can be used for large exhibits and general sessions.

The company did not disclose the cost of the project or when the expansion would be completed.
