WASHINGTON - Oct. 16, 2000 - Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR)
announced today that the Eden Roc Resort and Spa in Miami Beach, Fla.,
will be converted to a full-service Renaissance Resort. The Eden
Roc Renaissance Resort and Spa is owned by Blackacre Capital Group and
will be managed by Marriott International.
Since 1955, the Eden Roc has graced Miami Beach's prestigious Golden
Mile at 45th Street and Collins Avenue. Designed by famed architect
Morris Lapidus, who recently received a lifetime achievement award from
the Cooper Hewitt Museum at the Smithsonian Institution, the hotel became
a landmark, setting a new standard for luxury hotels on Miami Beach and
attracting the era�s biggest celebrities, including Elizabeth Taylor, Lucille
Ball, Desi Arnaz, Jerry Lewis and others.

The Eden Roc Renaissance Resort and Spa also offers a beauty salon, two oceanfront swimming pools, basketball, racquetball, squash and a rock climbing wall, beach rentals, multilingual concierge and bell staff, gift shop, express checkout, full-service business center, game room, daily newspaper delivery, valet parking, 24-hour security and car rental. Dining options at the resort include harry�s grille, specializing in fresh seafood, prime steaks and live music. For more casual dining, an oceanfront eatery offers indoor and al fresco Florida casual dining. Luxurious oversized guest rooms and suites, many with balconies, include walk-in closets and sitting areas. LOS ANGELES, CA � August 3, 2000 - Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE: MAR) and TrizecHahn Development Corporation have begun construction of the new Renaissance Hollywood Hotel at Hollywood & Highland®, a retail and entertainment destination that will be the new home to the Academy Awards® ceremonies. Slated to open in fall 2001, the 640-room, four-star Renaissance Hollywood Hotel will be managed by Marriott International and will occupy an incomparable location at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue beneath the well-known �Hollywood� sign. �The Renaissance Hollywood Hotel is going to be a new crown jewel of the nearly 100 Renaissance hotels worldwide. The hotel captures the essence of Hollywood, of today and yesteryear,� said J.W. Marriott, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer of Marriott International, Inc. �The Hollywood & Highland location has undergone a renaissance of its own, which should attract more local residents while still drawing millions of visitors annually.� �Considered the cornerstone in the revitalization of Hollywood, the Hollywood & Highland complex is expected to become the place for the entertainment industry�s prominent events,� said Lee Wagman, president of TrizecHahn Development Corporation, �and the new Renaissance Hollywood Hotel will serve as a wonderful anchor for this facility.� The hotel décor will feature modern luxuries with classic Hollywood charm. The 22-story hotel building has an extraordinary mid-century modern design and will offer 640 rooms, including 98 suites. The 3,000-square-foot rooftop Presidential Suite will feature three bedrooms, a bar and floor-to-ceiling glass windows with views of the Hollywood Hills and Boulevard. Hotel amenities will include an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, full-service restaurant and lounge. Nearly 50,000 square feet of multi-functional meeting space, including the 30,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom and outdoor pre-function area, will be available. The Grand Ballroom will be operated by celebrity chef and famed restaurateur Wolfgang Puck, who will also cater events on the hotel�s pool deck for up to 1,200 people. The luxuriant pool deck, rising 50 feet in the air, will feature a stylish bar serving lunch and appetizers. In addition to signature amenities and exceptional service, the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel is ideally situated in the midst of the $567 million, 1.3 million-square-foot Hollywood & Highland retail/entertainment destination also under construction. Within the destination will be the state-of-the-art and newly christened Kodak Theatre seating 3,600 guests. It is the world�s first theater designed specifically for live broadcast productions, including the Academy Awards® presentations. Hollywood & Highland will also feature pedestrian streetscapes and walkways with nightclubs, television broadcast studio, world-class retailers and upscale restaurants.
