HHG gets its name from the original founder,
Wilson Harrell
Mr. Harrells leadership spirit was forged by dogfights
in the skies over enemy territory, when, after shooting down four enemy
fighters, he was forced to parachute to escape his burning airplane. Badly
burned, Mr. Harrell was hidden from enemy patrols by friendly residents,
who buried him in the fields during daylight hours with only a length of
garden hose through which to breathe. He was rescued eleven days later
by the very troops he had been fighting to protect. Mr. Harrell took his
fighting Can Do spirit into the business world to become a champion of
entrepreneurship, as the author of For Entrepreneurs Only, as the contributing
editor of Success Magazine and as the publisher of Inc Magazine.
HHG was originally incorporated in 1959 to produce and
distribute "Formula 409" cleaner. The Company underwent several transformations
over the course of the next 30 years, when as Harrell International, the
Company moved into real estate, apartment management, and bought Hotel
Management Group, in 1992.
In recent years, with the successes of its subsidiary,
Hotel Management Group, the Company has turned its focus entirely on the
hotel business and changed its name to bring the parent and child together
as Harrell Hospitality Group.
The Company has managed numerous franchises, including
Sheraton, Holiday Inn, and Ramada, and is approved as one of only a select
few independent management companies accepted by Marriott to manage full-service
franchised hotels. |
