 Bruce N. Haase Replaces Bruno Geny as SVP, International at Choice Hotels
SILVER SPRING, Md., Oct. 17, 2000 - Choice Hotels International, Inc. (NYSE: CHH - news) today announced the appointment of Bruce N. Haase as senior vice president, international, effective immediately, reporting to Charles A. Ledsinger, Jr., president and chief executive officer.
 
Haase, 39, had been serving as vice president, finance, and treasurer since his appointment in March 2000. Prior to that he served in a similar capacity for The Ryland Group, Inc., a $2 billion NYSE-listed homebuilding and mortgage finance organization.

�Since coming to Choice last spring, Bruce has played a key role in supporting our international division,� said Ledsinger. �He has worked with many of our international development partners on a wide range of issues, and displayed leadership and an ability to build strong relationships with our partners.�

Haase replaced Bruno Geny, who resigned to pursue business opportunities in his native France.

Haase began his career with Goldman, Sachs as a financial planning analyst. His previous experience includes service with Marriott International and Caterair International in key finance roles.

A graduate of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute with a degree in electrical engineering, he also earned a Master�s degree in electrical engineering from Johns Hopkins University and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he concentrated in corporate finance.

Patrick Thomas, Director of Franchise Sales for the Northeast Market Area, Receives the 
Victor G. Trapani Award for Sales Excellence

October 6, 2000 - The award, presented each year to the director of franchise sales who best exemplifies the attributes of an exceptional sales person, is named in memory of a Choice franchise sales executive who lost his battle to cancer in 1995.

In announcing the award, Steve Schultz, Choice executive  vice president for franchise operations, said, "Pat Thomas is the ultimate sales professional - a consummate pro who consistently delivers a "win-win" deal for both Choice and the licensee/developer, while at the same time gaining the support and admiration of his peers."

As a franchise sales director for the Northeast Market Area, Thomas has responsibility for selling franchises for Comfort Inn, Sleep Inn and MainStay Suites brand hotels in New York, New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania.

The winner of the Victor G. Trapani Award is selected from among the recipients of Choice�s President�s Award each year. The President�s Award honors directors of franchise
sales in Choice�s market areas who achieve or exceed their performance quotas.

In addition to Patrick Thomas, recipients of the 1999 President�s Award are: (Northeast Market Area) Christine Thomas and Fran Taloricco; (Southeast Market Area) Ford  Barton and Rob O�Leary; (North Central Market Area) Ron Burgett; and (South Central Market Area) Larry Bingham, Jim Carr and Jerry Sheaks
