Sees Gross Operating Profits Jump Despite 
Bad Snow Conditions the Past Two Winters
Schaumburg, IL, November 7, 2000 - Since coming under the management of 
Hostmark Hospitality Group in 1998, the Aspen Club Lodge has experienced 
tremendous business growth.  The 90-room property, located at the base of 
Colorado's Aspen Mountain, is the most recent feather in the cap of a management company, that has built a strong reputation as the company instrumental in business turn-around. Since its inception in 1965, Hostmark has grown to be one of the nation's top privately held third party hospitality management and development firms with a strong reputation for repositioning and management support.

Gross operating profits at Aspen Club Lodge for 2000, are projected to show an impressive 35% increase over the 1998 numbers. Those numbers are particularly notable when you take into account that many other properties in the Aspen market have seen a slump in GOP for the same period, thanks in large part to bad snow conditions the past two winters. Aspen Club Lodge's ADR is projected to increase 17% over last year. "We are very pleased with the terrific revenue progress that the property has experienced under our management," said Ed Richter, Vice President, Sales and Marketing for Hostmark Hospitality Group.  "With continued prudent positioning, we feel Aspen Club Lodge will enjoy even greater growth in the coming years."    
 

According to Eileen Tucker, General Manager and a seven-year veteran of the property's management team, much of the growth experienced by Aspen Club Lodge can be directly attributed to Hostmark's management. "By providing us with excellent training and marketing programs, and supporting a major renovation in 1999, Hostmark has enabled us to reposition our property in this highly competitive market. Additionally, with Hostmark's broad-scale purchasing program, we've been able to better manage costs, while providing our guests with the utmost in luxury comfort and service."

But the impressive numbers don't end there.  The biggest jump has been in corporate group business, which has skyrocketed 277% in just two years. Kim Estock, Director of Sales and Marketing, acknowledges the opportunity Aspen Club Lodge presented, and that the support from Hostmark enabled the resort to be re-positioned as an upscale destination for corporate groups. 

The Aspen Club Lodge is a 90-room property with over 5,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space.  Located at the base of Aspen Mountain, in Aspen Colorado, the recently renovated property includes the Lodge Bar, and the restaurant Variations, which serves continental cuisine and offers a commanding view of Aspen Mountain.  Aspen Club Lodge was recently recognized by Lodging Hospitality as one of the 100 top-performing hotels in the country.
