Chicago, IL October 30, 2000: Graphic Systems International, Inc.
(GSI) completes exterior signage project converting a Hilton property to
a new Sheraton. The interior phase of this design, fabrication and installation
project complements the Sheraton Hotels & Resorts traditional new
look introduced at their Arlington Park property in Chicago.
Sheraton wanted a detailed signage
system as part of the new Sheraton brand image blending classic style with
functional workspace. The sign system needed to direct guests in a manner
that projected elegance and warmth. Our new Mission Series interior system
fit their needs perfectly. It offered the richness of wood that blended
with the interior design of the property and we were able to match the
background of the interior signs with the Ralph Lauren color accents used
in other areas of the property. This system also provided them with complete
ADA compliance.
The exterior sign presented more challenges. Rob Kisstoth, Jr., President
of GSI, explained. At |
|
twenty feet in diameter this is the largest Sheraton crest weve ever fabricated.
The intensity of the red neon when illuminated is spectacular. Although
the sheer size of the crest presented its own dilemmas, our major challenge,
because of the crests size, was to secure approved permitting from the
city of Arlington Heights . We finally discovered historical architectural
drawings of the previous hotel that set a precedent for an exterior sign
of this magnitude. Once the legal permit was secured we were ready to install
the crest.
Securing proper permitting for their projects is a valued added service
GSI offers its customers. It is a service that makes the project proceed
more smoothly by eliminating many last minute legal surprises.
