Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts has
Developed an Industry Leading Web
Purchasing Information Network
Brussels, March 2000Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts has developed an industry leading Purchasing Information Network (PIN), identifying and offering a central database with over 4000 products, accessible through the Internet. The total purchase value in 1999 through the system was MUSD 65.

All Radisson SAS managers can obtain free access to the database, containing carefully selected products from around 250 suppliers. With the help of the PIN, users are able to easily find products and make purchasing decisions in a matter of minutes. All products selected for the database are guaranteed in line with the corporate standards and recommendations, which facilitates the purchasing process. The PIN operates on a non-profit basis and is financed by participating suppliers, who are the ones updating the products available in the system.

The PIN was first launched in 1998 and is today recognised as being one of the most advanced purchasing systems in the industry, accumulating buying power on both central and regional agreements, with the help of web technology, resulting in competitive prices and adding significant financial contribution to participating hotels. By carefully selecting a limited number of suppliers, volumes become considerable and administration is reduced.

By encouraging centralised purchasing, Radisson SAS aims to take tighter control over the supply chain, ensuring that the companys high demands for responsible business are promoted and shared by its suppliers. The Corporate Purchasing Information Centres operation manages the system and acts as the communication gateway between selected suppliers and hotels.

The Purchasing Information Centre provides relevant information for the many refurbishment and hotel opening activities and manages the purchasing volumes of the rapidly expanding company.

Per Mattson, Vice President Procurement and Technical Services comments: Since the implementation of the pre-project some years ago, we have been able to observe a steady, continuous growth of purchasing volumes through the non-mandatory PIN system. This growth confirms us that both users and vendors are satisfied with it. He adds: The Purchasing Information Centre in Copenhagen effectively provides a convenient service and a very high quality of the information. Thats what makes the PIN self-growing. Radisson SAS is proud of the success of the PIN, and to be on the forefront on the web.

Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts, currently includes 126 hotels of which 98 in operation and 28 in operation in 37 countries and is the sole franchisor in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa for Radisson Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.
