Millennium Hotels and Resorts Proceeding with the Installation of the IDeaS Yield Management Solution
at More European Properties
MINNEAPOLIS, MN, February 16, 2000 Millennium Hotels and Resorts announced that, following the results of two pilot hotels, it will proceed in 2000 with the installation of the IDeaS yield management solution at more of its properties in Europe.

"The results at the pilot hotels were better than the IDeaS guarantee and we are looking forward to installing the system at more of our key hotels," said Tony Dessauer,  Millennium & Copthornes Rooms Business Development Director. " The IDeaS team delivered high quality service and were very professional throughout the process, which has helped us to optimise  potential in the short time available."

Millennium Hotels and Resorts piloted the IDeaL Yield Management Solution at two of its London hotels, the Millennium Gloucester Hotel (610 rooms) and the Millennium Chelsea Hotel (224 rooms).  During the test period in 1999, both hotels showed an  increase in room revenue that is attributable to the impact of the IDeaS Solution. The IDeaS benefit measurement system (IDeaL/RESULTS) uses conservative, scientifically designed methods to isolate the effect of the solution from any external rate and market changes.

"We are excited to continue our work with Millennium & Copthorne, said Uli Pillau, IDeaS´ Managing Director in Europe, Africa and Middle East. "Our scientific approach to revenue management, combined with our company's yield support and services, help hoteliers maximize their revenues. We have repeated the success seen at the Millennium pilots with all clients who have chosen IDeaS."

"Realizing an increase in room revenues through our technology, services and support is a big benefit for the hospitality industry. However, IDeaS can do a lot more. We have taken a huge step into the new millennium by evolving our solution to give hotel groups and chains a more flexible and robust set of yield management tools," added Ed Booth, President and CEO of IDeaS. "Our solution can be used to help hotels accurately analyze their business for groups, corporate contracts, airlines and tours. It also can be implemented to serve centralized, city-based and regional yielding requirements."

In February 2000, IDeaS introduced e-yield, the company's networkable yield management solution. e-yield can be networked (LAN, WAN, Internet-ready) anywhere a group of properties or a worldwide chain require the benefits of yield management. It is modeled to each property's and chain's business strategy.  It provides yielding at single properties and possesses the ability to yield reservations in multiple distribution channels for multiple hotels. In the near future, e-yield will deliver benefits like on-line pricing and availability, and integrate into a hotel's or chain's Internet marketing and distribution capabilities.

IDeaS, Inc., provides its yield management solution exclusively to the hospitality industry. With its corporate headquarters in Eagan, Minnesota, IDeaS also maintains offices in London, Munich, Paris, Pune and Sydney.

Millennium and Copthorne hotels offers both business and leisure travellers a full range of corporate, conference, banqueting and leisure facilities in 45 properties situated in key cities throughout the UK, Continental Europe, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, The Philippines and the USA.

New User Interface for e-yield

MINNEAPOLIS, MN, February 16, 2000 IDeaS, Inc., announced that it has introduced a new user interface for the company's networkable yield management solution, known as e-yield.

"The new user interface is, in essence, the window into the functions and operations of e-yield," said Edwin (Ed) Booth, President and CEO of IDeaS, Inc. "It enables our clients to view business-critical information on Forecasts, Opportunity Cost, Room Availability, and so forth. Rate availability and overbooking levels can also be viewed through the user interface."

Access to the user interface is possible through a direct connection to a PMS/CRS or remotely via the Internet, a LAN or WAN, or telephone line with modem. Multiple e-yield users from different locations can access e-yield, while enjoying the same performance they would expect with a direct connection.

The user interface features a color-coded Calendar Screen, which can be configured so that the user can see the information he or she wants either in simple graphics or with detailed figures. From the Calendar Screen, which displays 1, 2, 3, months or one year, information on exceptions, special events and occupancy data is displayed.

The user interface contains the modules for evaluating groups and contracts and monitoring exceptions (to the demand forecast). The demand forecast and booking pace according to market segment are also accessible.

Designed for a Microsoft Windows environment, the user interface is easy-to-use and easy to navigate. A HELP screen is a mouse click away.  The user interface features security and sophisticated access control through a User Manager Module.

With e-yield, IDeaS offers group evaluation to provide a displacement cost, which allows the property or chain to evaluate the group request to determine its impact.  The hotel or chain can use e-yield to evaluate contract business propositions (from aircrews, corporate contract, wholesalers, etc.) to help determine whether or not the e-yield user should enter into a business relationship. IDeaS also continues to quantify and guarantee the impact e-yield will have on transient business. That is, IDeaS is able to guarantee 4% or more increase in yieldable, transient room revenues at the property level.
