Best Western Colorado Marketing Co-op Web Site Adds IPIX Virtual Tours

OAK RIDGE, Tenn., Oct.6, 1999 - Interactive Pictures Corporation (Nasdaq: IPIX), a world leader in immersive imaging for the Internet, announced today that Best Western Colorado Marketing Co-op, a group of hotels in the largest branded hotel group in the world, has selected its IPIX virtual tour technology to provide navigable photographs of its properties and the Colorado area vacation destination. The 360-degree-by-360-degree IPIX images allow potential guests to see not only the rooms and suites, but the outside of the property, public areas, and even details of the surrounding region.  Interactive Pictures IPIX technology delivers an immersive photograph that allows viewers to step inside an IPIX image, looking in any direction from left to right and floor to ceiling, and feel as if they are actually in the picture.

The Best Western tours offer 5-6 IPIX images of each property, often also capturing the surrounding environment, which can be viewed at www.bestwesterncolorado.com.  According to Andrzej Szadzinski, President of the Colorado Marketing Co-op, IPIX technology is an excellent way to showcase vacation destinations and hotel properties. Guests like to know what their choices are when they are making vacation plans, said Teasley. For our properties in Colorado, IPIX is absolutely ideal because the scenery here is so breathtaking. IPIX images are better than any tourbook because guests can feel like they are really here, and see in every direction.

IPIX Studios is a fully-staffed creative department of Interactive Pictures Corporation that specializes in Web sites and CD-ROMs that employ IPIX images. IPIX Studios has contracted with the Best Western Colorado Marketing Co-op to provide the IPIX images.

Vacationers want to get the most for their travel dollar, and when IPIX images are available for a vacation destination, they can choose more wisely for their needs, said Interactive Pictures Chairman and CEO, Jim Phillips. Best Western is taking an innovative approach by featuring not only their own properties with IPIX technology, but the overall destination as well.
To date, IPIX technology has replaced traditional photographs on many leading Internet sites. The real estate, e-commerce, automotive, travel/tourism, entertainment, hospitality, education, broadcast journalism industries have capitalized when IPIX images take viewers directly into a home, a car, a stadium or an eventusing a standard computer mouse for navigation, pan and zoom.

About Interactive Pictures
With technology originally developed on behalf of NASA and the U.S.  Department of Energy as a means to provide total remote viewing of hazardous environments, an IPIX image places viewers in the center of a picture and allows them to navigate the environment in real time as if they were teleported into that space. IPIX is an easy to use and affordable photography solution that delivers a completely immersive 360 x 360 degree photographic experience providing interactive, spherical images. An IPIX image takes the viewer from earth to sky, floor to ceiling, and horizon to horizon, all from two simple opposing photographs captured by a fisheye lens and seamlessly blended.

Interactive Pictures has helped numerous organizations create virtual tours and enhanced digital marketing/electronic commerce efforts for many leading companies including Microsoft, Disney, Hilton Hotels, Toyota, Intel, National Geographic, Rent.Net, Coldwell Banker, CNN, The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune, Discovery Communications, the NFL, and the NBA. Interactive Pictures maintains corporate headquarters in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and San Jose, California.
