CSM Lodging Adds Third Region to Support Growth --
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (April 5, 2005) – CSM Lodging announces the addition of a central region to its existing east and west regions to support its fast-paced growth structure. The realignment will allow for more effective management of CSM Lodging’s existing properties and provide a roadmap to acquire and build additional properties. Steve Schlundt, previously director of quality for CSM Lodging, will serve as regional vice president for the central region. “As we continue to acquire new properties, it is critical now more than ever to make sure we are focusing our resources on our existing hotels and maximizing our opportunities now that stronger market conditions exist,” said Robin Kirk, president of CSM Lodging. The central region will consist mostly of extended stay properties including all of CSM Lodging’s TownePlace Suites by Marriott and SpringHill Suites by Marriott in the Midwestern cities of Detroit, Milwaukee and Minneapolis/St. Paul. The central region will also oversee ExecuStay by Marriott- Minneapolis/St. Paul, CSM Lodging’s corporate housing franchise. “There are many synergies between all suite brands that will allow us to effectively manage these properties and make improvements across the board,” said Schlundt. “The opportunity to identify and share best practices across the region will result in an environment of continuous improvement of the areas of guest service, product quality, revenue attainment and cost control.” Schlundt has been with CSM since the lodging division was formed in 1995 and was on the opening team for CSM Lodging’s first new construction property, the TownePlace Suites by Marriott in Eagan, Minn. Prior to joining CSM, Schlundt worked with Marriott for 10 years as a general manager of various hotels including several Courtyards by Marriott in Indianapolis, Louisville and Chicago, Ill. He has a B.S. in hotel and restaurant management from the University of Wisconsin at Stout. 
The east region, headed by regional vice president Jim Callaghan,
includes properties in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, Wisconsin, Iowa,
Illinois, Florida and Massachusetts. Al Hatfield serves as regional
vice president for the western region, which includes properties in the
Minneapolis/St. Paul area, Denver, Colo., Mesa, Ariz., Portland, Ore.,
and Seattle, Wash. |
