Randy Griffin Named Director of Marketing for the
Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center
in Schaumburg, Illinois

.

Miami, FL (December 6, 2004) - Renaissance Hotels & Resorts announced today that Randy Griffin will serve as Director of Marketing for the new Schaumburg Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center in Schaumburg, Illinois, effective December 7, 2004. He will also have regional sales and marketing responsibilities in the Midwest for Renaissance North America.

Mr. Griffin, former director of marketing for the Eden Roc Renaissance Resort & Spa in Miami Beach, Florida, has been with Renaissance Hotels & Resorts since 2000 when Marriott Corporation took over management of the Eden Roc and re-branded it as a Renaissance Hotel. Since 1998, he has successfully marketed the Eden Roc through three renovations, including a major $24 million restoration in 1999 that returned the hotel to the original vision of its creator, famed architect Morris Lapidus.  During his tenure, the hotel has become a top performer in its category for Renaissance Hotels & Resorts and has been the recipient of numerous awards.

In 2002, Mr. Griffin was promoted to Area Director of Sales & Marketing for Renaissance Hotels Florida. Prior to joining Renaissance Hotels & Resorts, Mr. Griffin worked in both regional and property-specific roles for some of the industry's top hotel management companies, gaining expertise in managing a variety of branded hotels and resorts throughout Florida.

"We are extremely fortunate to have someone with Randy's skill and experience available to open the new Schaumburg Hotel and Convention Center. The size and scope of this project demands someone who is agile, decisive, and has extensive pre-opening and grand opening experience," explains Michael Murphy, Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Renaissance North America. "We have great confidence in Randy's ability to pre-sell the convention center while preparing the hotel for our biggest and best grand opening to date!"

Currently under construction, the Schaumburg Renaissance Hotel is slated to open in 2006.  Designed by John Portman & Associates, the four-star hotel is part of a mixed-use project incorporating a convention center with 100,000 sq. ft. of exhibition space, a 28,000 sq. ft. ballroom, 20,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, and in the second phase, the addition of a 2,400 seat theater.

The Schaumburg Renaissance Hotel features 500 spacious guest rooms, including 261 doubles, 212 kings and 27 suites. All accommodations feature 2-line phones with data ports, high speed internet access, work desk, cable satellite TV with remote control, pay-per view movies, newspaper delivered (M-F), complimentary in-room coffee, mini-bar, hairdryer, ironing board, and individual climate controls.

The Schaumburg Convention Center and Renaissance Hotel will create an economic windfall for the Village of Schaumburg.  According to a recent feasibility study, it is predicted that 537 events could be held at the convention center each year, drawing 380,000 attendees and over 70,000 new hotel stays to Schaumburg.
