HILTON MORE THAN 500 ROOMS Hilton Waikoloa Village, Hawaii Celebrated
by numerous visitors to this 65-acre tropical paradise on Hawaiis Big
Island, the Hilton Waikoloa Village has developed a new sense of
arrival to their resort with the creation of the Malolo Lounge. Named
after the SS Malolo, which made its maiden voyage from San Francisco to
Hawaii in 1927, this multi-faceted gathering place offers a casual
elegance of rattan, mahogany stained woods and tropical color schemes
reminiscent of the Kamaaina living room atmosphere found in the lounges
aboard steamships bound for Hawaii during the late 1920s.
The Hilton Waikoloa Village also is currently in the midst of an aggressive
renovation of the resorts 1,183 guestrooms and 57 suites.
A Hawaiiana chic motif has been adopted for this enhancement project,
which includes rich tropical hues, earthy tones and floral accents,
along with artwork by local Hawaiian artists to give the rooms a
fresh tropical tone. Renovations in the Lagoon Tower® were completed
in December 2003. The Palace Tower and Ocean Tower rooms are
targeted for completion in 2004 and 2005 respectively.
