ATLANTA (March 16, 2004) � InterContinental
Hotels Group announced today the opening of a Crowne Plaza Hotel in Virginia
Beach, Va., after completing a $3.5 million renovation. The 149-room
Crowne Plaza-Virginia Beach is the latest property to join the Crowne Plaza
Hotels and Resorts portfolio and is the first Crowne Plaza to open in Virginia
Beach. It is located just seven miles from Virginia Beach�s oceanfront
in the new Town Center development.
Located off Interstate 264, in Virginia Beach�s �New Town Center� area, the Crowne Plaza-Virginia Beach provides for business meetings and social functions 11,000-sq. ft. of meeting space. �We are delighted about continuing to grow the Crowne Plaza brand in North America,� said Kevin Kowalski, vice president, brand management, Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts, North America. �We look forward to delivering the Crowne Plaza experience to guests at our newest hotel in Virginia Beach.� The newly renovated hotel is just minutes from a variety of restaurants and shops, as well as several area attractions including Nauticus Maritime Museum and NASA Oceana. Also just a short drive from the hotel are downtown Norfolk, Virginia Beach Convention Center and the Town Center Business District.
