Todd Harris has been appointed Senior Vice President of Exclusive Resorts
Club based in Denver. A Cornell Hotel School graduate, Harris spent the
past fifteen years with Ritz-Carlton. This included stints as General Manager
of Ritz-Carlton hotels in Seoul, Korea and Bachelor Gulch, Colorado.
If the motto of Exclusive Resorts Club is "Travel Whenever, Wherever
", it echoes that of competitor The Odyssey Club, which is "the Luxury
of Choice, the Choice of Luxury". John Arnett has been named President
of the Odyssey Club, which was launched by John Pritzker. Like Harris,
Arnett is a former Ritz-Carlton General Manager. Most recently he was the
CEO of the Kor Group.
At Starwood, Steve Hankin was promoted from the position of President,
Starwood Technology and Revenue Systems, to Chief Marketing Officer.
Also at Starwood, Geoff Ballotti, a fourteen-year veteran of the company,
Executive Vice President, North America Hotel Operations, has been named
President, North America.
Bill Doak has joined JRK Asset Management, owners of Oceana in Santa
Monica and Santa Barbara. The company recently acquired the Roger Williams
and the Franklin in New York City. Doak joins as Senior Vice President
Hospitality and Vice President JRK Asset Management. He spent the past
six years with Four Seasons at the Regent Beverly Wilshire, first as Director
of Sales and Marketing, most recently as Hotel Manager.
J.T. Kuhlman has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of One&Only
Resorts. Most recently he was the President of Inter-Continental/Crowne
Plaza. Kuhlman spent 24 years at Inter-Continental.
Paul Jones, a long-time associate of One&Only Chairman Sol Kerzner,
has been named Chief Operating Officer. He has been with Kerzner for over
30 years, and was most recently the Chief Operating Officer of Kerzner¹s
International Division.
Also at One&Only, Helen McCabe-Young has been appointed Senior Vice-President,
Marketing. She joined One&Only in August after four years at Silversea
Cruises.
Ellen Miller has left her position of General Manager at the Oceana
of Santa Monica to take the helm of the Beverly Crescent Hotel. She had
returned to the Oceana Santa Monica from the Oceana Santa Barbara a mere
few months ago. Miller had previously been the General Manager of Avalon
in Beverly Hills.
Christian Clerc, 36, a Lausanne graduate, will be the new General Manager
at the Four Seasons Punta Mita. He joined the company in August 2000 as
Director of Rooms at the Four Seasons Washington DC. Since May 2001, he
was that property¹s Hotel Manager. At Punta Mita, Clerc
replaces Ricardo Acevedo, who transfers to the Regent of Singapore as General
Manager.
Thomas Meding has left his position of Director of Food and Beverage
at the Fairmont Copley Plaza to become the Executive Assistant Manager
at the Ritz-Carlton Tyson¹s Corner. Meding, who was at the Copley
Plaza for almost four years, was previously the Food and Beverage Director
at the Pierre, in New York. In Tyson¹s Corner, he takes over
from David Rothwell who left to join the upcoming Mandarin-Oriental Washington
as Resident Manager.
Luis Barrios has been appointed General Manager of the 436-room Wyndham
San Diego at Emerald Plaza. Most recently, he worked for San Diego-based
Evans Hotels, where he held the position of General Manager at the Bahia
Resort Hotel and at the Catamaran Resort Hotel.
General Manager John Volponi has been transferred by Orient-Express
from La Samanna in St. Martin to the Inn at Perry Cabin in St Michaels,
Maryland. Taking over from Volponi at La Samanna is Bernard Sarme, who
transfers from the same position at the company¹s Bora Bora Lagoon
Resort.
Samuel Schorr, who holds a Master of Professional Studies from the Cornell
School of Hotel Administration, is the General Manager of the River Terrance
Inn in Napa. Schorr, who was the pre-opening General Manager at the Sam
Houston Hotel, was subsequently the General Manager of the Ocean Place
Resort & Spa in Long Branch, New Jersey. Joining Schorr as Rooms Division
Manager at the River Terrance is Mark Cowan, formerly the Front Office
Director at the Sam Houston Hotel.
Charlie Robles is the General Manager at the Parker Méridien
Palm Springs formerly known as the Givenchy Resort and Spa, formerly known
as the Gene Autry Hotel. Robles was previously a partner at Palm Springs¹
Caliente Lodge. Before that, he was in San Francisco with Kimpton Hotels.
Mara Bouvier has been named General Manager of Hotels for the Hotels
of Baltimore International College. Included are the Hopkins Inn, the Mount
Vernon Hotel and the Bay Atlantic Club. Bouvier will also be responsible
for the Park Hotel, located in Ireland. Until September of this year, Bouvier
was the General Manager of Island Outpost¹s Strawberry Hill, in Jamaica.
Pamela and Jacques Brouchier are General Managers of Coral Sands on
Harbour Island, Bahamas. The couple is known in the area where they used
to run Pink Sands for Island Outpost owner Chris Blackwell. The Brouchiers
also managed the Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort and the Pointe.
Steven Cenicola is the new General Manager of Brad Korzen¹s Estrella
Resort & Spa in Palm Springs. He joins from the Renaissance Esmeralda
& Spa where he was the Resident Manager
John F. "Jack" Kennedy has been named General Manager of the Hyatt Regency
Pier Sixty-Six Resort and Spa. His previous positions included those of
Executive Vice President for Winthrop Hotels & Resorts in Boston and
Crescent Hotels in Phoenix and Executive Director of Hotel Operations for
Cunard Hotels and Resorts.
Louis Sailer has been appointed General Manager of Raffles Resort at
Canouan Island. The property, which had previously been briefly an independent
Leading Hotel of the World, and was later operated by Rosewood, became
part of the Raffles portfolio this month. Sailer was until now the
General Manager of the Swissôtel Dalian in China. He originally joined
the Raffles/Swissôtel Group as Executive Assistant Manager at Raffles
Singapore.
Nicolas Pesty has been promoted from Assistant General Manager to General
Manager at the Sofitel Philadelphia. He previously held the position of
General Manager at the Novotel Meadowlands.
Andreas Kappenhagen is the new Director of Food and Beverage at Miramonte,
replacing Vince Robinson. Kappenhagen moves up the street from La Quinta
where he assumed the position of Assistant Director of Food and Beverage
since January 2000. Prior to that, he spent over three years at the Four
Seasons Chicago as Director of Restaurants and Bars.
Mark Somen will be the Director of Food and Beverage at the soon-to-open
Hotel Gansevoort in lower Manhattan. Somen works for China Grill Management,
the food and beverage operator at the Gansevoort. Somen originally joined
China Grill from the St. Regis New York as Food and Beverage Director at
Hudson. For the past year, he has been the General Manager of Tuscan in
Manhattan.
Replacing Somen at Tuscan is Frank Kawecki. He is also an internal transfer
within China Grill and comes from the acclaimed Mix, in Manhattan, a joint
venture between China Grill and Alain Ducasse.
At Mix, Melissa Trumbull takes over from Frank Kawecki. A Cornell hotel
graduate, Trumbull originally joined China Grill Management in November
2001 as Restaurant Director at Royalton. She previously was a Restaurant
Director at Windows on the World, where she spent six years.
Garrett Ronan is the new Director of Food and Beverage at the Boston
Harbor Hotel. He joins following five and half years at the Waldorf=Astoria
where he was the Assistant Director of Food and Beverage. Ronans¹s
successor at the Waldorf is Julian Griffiths, who has been with the hotel
for four years.
Michael Fernandez has joined the Four Seasons Scottsdale as Resort Manager
following a three-year stint as Director of Rooms at the Four Seasons Beverly
Hills.
Frederick Sawyers, a Stanford graduate, was named Hotel Manager of the
Hilton New Orleans Riverside and the Hilton New Orleans Airport.
He previously served as the Hotel Manager of the Doubletree Hotel Columbia
River/Jantzen Beach and Hilton Portland & Executive Tower.
Paula Fenner is the new Director of Catering at the Adolphus in Dallas.
She previously held the same position at the Westin Stonebriar and the
Inter-Continental Dallas.
Rosewood¹s Las Ventanas al Paraiso has named Rebecca Huetter Director
of Sales and Marketing. Most recently, she was a Regional Director of Sales
and Marketing for Ian Schrager Hotels West Coast with responsibility for
the Clift and the Mondrian. Previously, she was a Director of Incentive
Sales for Four Seasons.
Brad Beaty has been appointed Director of Sales and Marketing for Raffles
Resort at Canouan Island. Beaty's resume includes Orient-Express' La Samanna
in St. Martin, Four Seasons Resort Nevis and corporate sales management
positions at The Mark in New York. Raffles Canouan Resort is due to re-open
in 2004.
Dori Familiant is the new General Manager at Noble House's Sunburst
Resort in Scottsdale. He takes over from Darren Smith, who left the property
after six years to become the General Manager of Daufuskie Island Resort.
Familiant previously spent nineteen years with Hyatt, including a position
of General Manager at the Hyatt Regency Houston Airport.
Tori McLaughlin has been appointed Director of Sales and Marketing at
the Sunburst Resort. Prior to this appointment, McLaughlin was Director
of Sales and Marketing at the Millennium Resort Scottsdale.
Win Person has been promoted to Vice President of Food and Beverage
at Bellagio. Prior to the promotion, he held the title of Director
of Food and Beverage at Bellagio since April 2002. A Lausanne Hotel School
graduate, Person joined Bellagio from Four Seasons.
Daniel Espino, formerly the Director of Human Resources at Delano, has
been transferred by Ian Schrager Hotels to the same post at Mondrian.
Derek Flint has been promoted to the position of Corporate Director
of Rooms at Ritz-Carlton. Flint had held positions of Director of Rooms
at the Ritz-Carlton San Francisco and the Ritz-Carlton New York Central
Park South, which he opened.
Alistair McAlpine is the new Director of Food and Beverage at
the Four Seasons Washington DC. He transferred from the Four Seasons Tokyo
and previously worked at the Four Seasons Maldives. In DC, he fills the
position left vacant when Christina Clifton joined the Mirage in Las Vegas.
James Wroblewski was recently named Director of Operations at the Westin
Pasadena. Most recently, he served as Director of Six Sigma at the Century
Plaza Hotel and Spa.
Teresa Holden has left her position of Director of Sales and Marketing
at the St. Regis Los Angeles after one year. She had joined the hotel in
October 2002, following stints at the Kor Group, Ian Schrager¹s Mondrian
and the W Westwood. Her successor at the St. Regis is Mark Peterson.
At the Sofitel New York, Ana-Lissa Sison has joined as Director of Housekeeping.
She came from the Stanhope Park Hyatt.
Also at the Sofitel New York, Ianic Ménard has been promoted
to Director of Sales, Corporate Travel, Accor North America. Prior to the
new position, Ménard was the Assistant Director of Sales and Marketing
at the Sofitel New York. Ana Suarez has been promoted to Assistant Director
of Sales and Marketing at Sofitel New York, replacing Ianic Ménard.
Karen Webster has been appointed Central Controller for Sofitel and
Novotel in New York City. She has been with Accor since 1987.
Hervé Béal will be the new Restaurant Manager at the Sofitel
New York. With Accor since 1990, he was the Assistant Food & Beverage
Manager at the Sofitel Paris La Défense Grande Arche.
Dianna Balabon has been appointed Regional Director of Sales (America/Europe)
for Peninsula Hotels, while maintaining her position as Director of Marketing
for the Peninsula New York, which she joined in 1998. Prior to Peninsula,
Balabon was the Director of Sales, North America at The Leading Hotels
of the World.
Paul Sherlock has been named Director of Operations at the La Playa
Beach and Golf Resort. He was previously La Playa¹s Director of Food
& Beverage. Sherlock was also the Director of Food and Beverage at
the Lodge at Pebble Beach.
Ellen Adelman has been named Director of Sales and Marketing for Shutters
On the Beach and Hotel Casa Del Mar. She most recently served as
National Director of Sales for Rosewood. Previously, she was Rosewood's
Regional Director of Marketing & Sales, Caribbean Resorts. Adelman
also worked at New York¹s Plaza and for Fairmont Hotels.
Andrew Naudin became the Director of Sales and Marketing at the Magnolia
Houston. He replaced LaDonna Pettit who accepted a General Manager position
with the PGI.
Libby Cook joined Xanterra Park and Resorts in their corporate office
in Colorado and is in charge of quality assurance. She had already held
a position in quality assurance at the Kingsmill Resort in Virginia. In
her most recent position, she was the General Manager at the Willcox in
South Carolina. Cook also worked for Ritz-Carlton in Naples.
Sue Binder has become the Director of Training and Internal Development
for the Oneida Indian Nation. She previously held a similar position with
Rosewood.
Carlos Sanchez Caballero has been named Director of Sales for the Presidente
InterContinental Cancun. He previously was the Director of International
Sales for InterContinental Barcelona.
Matt Lourick has been appointed General Manager of Morimoto in Philadelphia.
Matt was previously with Chicago-based Lettuce Entertain You as General
Manager of Mon Ami Gabi in Bethesda. He was with the company for five years.
At Le Rêve in Las Vegas, Shana Wiley, a Cornell Hotel graduate,
joins as Employment Manager, from a comparable position at the corporate
office of Harrah¹s Entertainment.
Ryan Crabbe will be the opening Spa Director at the Ritz-Carlton Miami
South Beach. Crabbe, 25, joined Ritz-Carlton in August 2002 as Spa Manager
at the Ritz-Carlton Tyson¹s Corner. He was later promoted to Regional
Spa Manager, also covering the spa at the Ritz-Carlton Washington. Prior
to joining Ritz-Carlton, he was the Spa Manager at the Boar¹s Head
Inn.
Vernon Rivers has been appointed Director of Housekeeping at the New
York Palace. He has most recently been the Director of Housekeeping for
the 4,000-suite Venetian Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas. Rivers also
held Director of Housekeeping positions in New York at the Plaza, the UN
Plaza-Park-Hyatt, and the Omni Berkshire.
Jeffrey Everts has joined the Kor Group as Corporate Chef. He was previously
the Executive Chef at Boston¹s Hotel Nine Zero. As such he worked
with Kor¹s Avalon General Manager Janne Clare, who used to be Nine
Zero¹s General Manager
Roger Ruch, who has been the Corporate Chef for Island Outpost as well
as the Executive Chef for The Tides, will be the Executive Chef for the
soon-to-open Hotel Conrad Miami. Prior to joining The Tides, Ruch had been
the Executive Sous Chef at the Grand Bay.
Andrew Chadwick is the new Executive Chef at Meadowood, replacing Didier
Lenders, who left the company several months ago. Chadwick, who relocated
to Northern California for family reasons, was the opening Executive Sous
Chef at the St. Regis Monarch Beach, and worked for Joachim Splichal¹s
Patina Group.
John Johnston is the new Executive Chef at the Ritz-Carlton Naples,
following a more-than-three-year stint in a similar position at the Ritz-Carlton
Phoenix. Johnston originally joined Ritz-Carlton from Tavern on the Green
in New York. In Naples, he takes over from Lawrence McFadden who was made
Corporate Executive Chef for the company.
Lamberto Valdez has rejoined Ritz-Carlton as Executive Chef of the Ritz-Carlton
Jupiter Golf and Spa, a private club residence. Valdez, who had been the
Senior Sous Chef at the Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach, briefly left the company
to be the Executive Chef at the Sofitel Miami.
John Beardsley is the new Executive Chef at San Francisco¹s Azie,
following a six-month stint as the Executive Chef at Le Colonial. Beardsley
also was the Executive Chef at Kimpton¹s Ponzu.
Jamie West is the new Executive Chef at the award-winning Mayflower
Inn, a Relais & Chateau in Washington, Connecticut. West joins from
another famed Relais & Chateau, San Ysidro Ranch, where he was the
Executive Chef since 1999.
Mark Payne has been appointed Executive Sous Chef at the Ritz-Carlton
Chicago. He transferred from the Pierre in New York where he had been a
Restaurant Chef for two years.
Roland Gibert has left the Jonathan Beach Club after four years to be
the Executive Chef at the California Club. Gibert had previously been the
Chef-Partner of Tony Bill and Dudley Moore¹s 72 Market in Venice.
Executive Pastry Chef Marco Ropke has transferred from the Four Seasons
Vancouver to the Four Seasons Toronto. Prior to joining Four Seasons, Ropke
directed pastry operations at six Hilton International properties in China,
Japan and Taiwan. |
