Platform for Dynamic Packaging |
Montreal, Canada September 15, 2003 Accoviatm Inc., the global leader in travel packaging technology, today announced the Accovia Selling System Platform, a new XML-based solution that allows travel suppliers, wholesalers and retailers to maximize travel procurement and selling opportunities. The Accovia Selling System is a single platform for distributing multi-component travel services from suppliers including major, low-cost and charter airlines, hotels, cruise and car companies; packaging the services under a single price; and distributing the services via multiple channels such as call centers, GDSs, and the Internet. Accovias Selling System Platform supports connections to accounting and fulfillment applications, thereby providing a complete solution. With Accovias platform, travel companies can offer packaged products in real-time to consumers and business partners by leveraging a Web Services interface that decreases implementation time from months to weeks. Dynamic Packaging is a critical factor for travel service providers who want to package and sell multiple services under a single price. In a recent survey, PhoCusWright, the leading online travel research firm, reported that dynamic packaging is being embraced by consumers. Dynamic packaging is reality. Three out of every ten online travel buyers have bought a combination of air and car or hotel in a single purchase. And nearly three-quarters said that they purchased it by creating their own package. Source: The PhoCusWright Consumer Travel Trends Survey Fifth Edition, June 3, 2003 Real-time access to a broad set of suppliers and an integrated selling platform for multiple channels are key requirements for travel suppliers, wholesalers and retailers who want to offer dynamic packaging, said Claude Guay, president and CEO of Accovia. Our new Selling System Platform helps travel packagers amend their infrastructure to facilitate online procurement, packaging and distribution, by leveraging standards-based technology. We are committed to developing solutions that benefit our customers today, and sustain value in the future. The use of technologies such as XML and Web Services, support and promote future system adaptability and increased scope of functionality." The Accovia Selling System Platform is based on an object-oriented XML architecture that allows seamless integration and migration of legacy and state-of-the-art systems, and enables stronger security and authentication between travel packagers, their retailers and consumers. The packaging company can quickly and easily connect suppliers to its new selling system platform via the Accovia Hub - a central "pipeline" for exchanging coded travel product information, which is compliant with Open Travel Alliance specifications wherever possible. The new platform is designed with procurement managers to secure products from selected suppliers, based on specific travel queries and to return packaged responses according to validated pricing and business rules.
