Synxis Generates One Billion Dollars in Revenue
for Their Hotels in the First Half of 2003

Leading reservations provider sees a 117 percent increase in system
load and a 50 percent improvement in system response time

McLean, VA - July 29, 2003 - SynXis, a leading provider of reservation management and distribution systems for the hospitality industry, announced today that they have more than doubled their customer base and transactions for the first half of 2003, as compared to the first half of 2002 resulting in one billion dollars in revenue for their customers.  SynXis is also pleased to announce that while they have increased the load on their production system, response time to GDS/IDS sell and availability queries has been cut by more than half, ensuring that their customers receive the most bookings possible to drive their revenues.

The increase in properties has come through a combined effort of direct sales and sales from domestic and international SynXis resellers.   The doubling of our customer base makes us the second largest reservations provider in the industry, which speaks volumes of our product and company stability, said Jim Kelly, President and CEO of SynXis.  We had the foresight to address production capacity early on in our development cycles by building a robust platform to meet expected demand.  Now, unlike many of our competitors that are showing signs of strain, we are in the best position to expand and grow.

SynXis recently updated their production database.  With the incredible acceptance of our reservation management system in just our first two years in business, we needed to be ready for the growth that we knew was coming, said Jim Fucillo, Vice President of Engineering for SynXis.  After much research and planning, we upgraded our system and are thrilled with the initial results.  We are seeing a dramatic improvement to our already lightning-fast response times, a crucial benefit given the growing volume of queries generated by popular Internet sites. The upgrades will also allow quicker development cycles enabling us to rapidly respond to customer needs and market conditions with new features and enhancements.

The industry is seeing an increased desire by hoteliers to drive more Internet reservations through their own web-sites in order to keep distribution costs down, said Kelly.  The first example of our new production environment is the enhancement of our booking engine, Book-A-Rez® which was introduced at the recent HITEC show in New Orleans and received a great response.  SynXis gathered feedback from their existing customers, hotel guests and industry consultants on what elements would drive more revenue from their booking engine.  Some of the highlights include:  easy-to-use four-step booking process, images of room types, customizable layouts, interactive room-rate availability screens, and quick guest information creation.  These new features along with the already existing functionality (ie, ability to book corporate, group and promotional rates, extensive tracking reports, choice of seven languages, real-time currency converter, ability to modify or cancel an existing reservation) will ensure that hotels meet their goals.
