IRVING, Texas & PALMA DE MALLORCA, Spain - Aug.  12, 2003 -- Barcelo Hotels and Resorts has signed a private-label agreement with Lexington Services to represent its properties on the global distribution systems under the hotel group's unique access code 'BN'. In addition, Lexington will provide centrally hosted reservations technology, support, and exposure through the global distribution systems (GDS) and Internet distribution systems (IDS) via Lexington's extensive and expanding Online Distribution Network.  Barcelo Hotels and Resorts is the third largest hotel group in Spain with 148 properties throughout the world. Lexington Services is a leading provider of reservation services, electronic distribution and channel management to hotels worldwide.

Barcelo selected Lexington Services because of its unique channel management capability that enables it to manage all properties using a single, centralized reservations management tool. Through Lexington's partnership with Optims -- the European leader in hotel distribution -- all of Barcelo's properties will be added to the Otedis (Optims Technology for Distribution) distribution network, allowing for consolidated management from Barcelo's central office in Palma de Mallorca.

"Lexington's technology is a key component of our plans to implement a revenue management strategy across our properties to complement our continuing domestic and international growth," said Antonio Carmona, Director of BarceloRes, the Central Reservation System of Barcelo Hotels and Resorts. "Its robust functionality makes it easy to manage multiple channels, and they offer a complete electronic distribution package that includes seamless GDS connectivity, online booking technology and reports that are excellent tools for marketing and revenue management."

Carmona went on to say that the support received by Lexington, from its European office, as well as from its Miami, San Diego and Dallas offices, has been instrumental in enabling the establishment of a true brand. "Lexington is helping us transition from a large group of independent hotels under many different chain codes into a recognizable brand. Fortunately, we were able to obtain a single code that is the same in all of the GDS's. This allows us to market our Barcelo Hotels and Resorts more effectively right now and for the long-term."

Shawn Heaton, President of Lexington Services, commented, "Barcelo is a prime example of a growing global hotel company seeking a cost effective solution for significantly improving management of hotel data. By utilizing Lexington's technology, Barcelo will be able to maximize the use of automated tools for improved management of its CRS data, comprised of inventory and room rate information from their hotels worldwide."
