Onity Launches NO GUEST - NO COST
Electronic Locks Program
Through its HTFreeTM /EquipFreeTM programs, Onity offers
electronic locks and other hotel solutions with no capital investment

ATLANTA MAY 12, 2003 Todays challenging economy has the hospitality market asking for a different vehicle to add technology solutions that ensure guest safety and comfort while being easy to afford, implement and upgrade. Developing solutions with the input of hoteliers and major industry brands, Atlanta-based Onity (formerly TESA Entry Systems Inc.) has answered this need with the roll out of two new programs that work in direct connection with hotel occupancy.  These programs have been tested over several months and proven to work for the best benefit to hoteliers.

Through these programs, hotels can install Onitys HT-lock series and other electronic hotel solutions with no capital investment, just a minimal fee per room rented.  This no-cot-of-entry program is ideal for franchise organizations.  It allows franchisees to update electronics, enhance security, and better manage cash flow.

The conflict between providing additional equipment and unpredictable revenues is rampant, said Pascal Metivier, Onity VP Global Sales & Marketing. Capital investment for new technology can be difficult to raise, and its sometimes risky to make big technology investments in an uncertain economy. We at Onity found an innovative solution to help properties that want to install our solutionsnamely e-locks, CCTV, energy-management solutions, black mold prevention systems, in-room safes and other control solutions--with no upfront, out-of-pocket expense. We share the risk with this NO GUEST NO COSTTM program. Unlike a lease, the average monthly charge of an HTFreeTM / EquipFreeTM system is in direct correlation with a hotels occupancy rates. Thanks to the use of the credit card, the cash outlay for the system comes after payment is received for the room.  This works as a business insurance program.

Developed specifically for the hospitality industry, the HTFreeTM program, an HT-series locks-only offer, is ideal for: new construction hotels and those undergoing retrofits and renovations; properties still using mechanical keys; and, properties that were early adopters of electronic card locks 10 to 15 years ago and have not made an upgrade investment. EquipFreeTM offers Onitys HT lock series plus the combination of one or more of Onitys other innovative solutions, such as Onity / Senercomms® energy management system, black mold prevention system, in-room safes, or a closed-circuit TV surveillance system.  This program is perfect for the more than 17,000 hotels already equipped with Onity electronic locks.

To qualify for the HTFreeTM / EquipFreeTM program, hotels only need a debit or credit card, Metivier said. Cash-flow outlays are made only when there is cash flow coming in. All e-locks, hand-held units, front desk units, installation, training, warranty, 24 x 7 technical support, repairs, and supplies such as keycards, batteries and other consumables are all included in the program free.

A Win Win For Everyone

As security becomes the No. 1 issue concerning travelers today, Onitys new programs allow hotels, at their price points, to have full electronic-lock capability without the capital outlay, said Greg Plank, former president of Suburban Lodges of America and current president of Atlanta-based Worldwide Travel Marketing Inc. This is tremendous news for the industry, especially since one of the major costs associated with a renovation from a capital standpoint is electronic locks.

Plank said because hotels do not have to pay upfront for these programs, they instead can put capital in high impact guest areas for items such as carpet and case goods. In addition, he said hotels will see big savings in energy usage and also from preventing black mold as a result of utilizing Onitys SensorStat® DDC (Direct Digital Control) thermostats, part of its energy-management offering.

The HTFreeTM / EquipFreeTM programs will be incredibly attractive to hotels because of the financial model, Plank said. Theyre no-cost-of-entry programs for properties in these difficult times. Its an ideal solution that allows hotels across all segments to update their physical plans, enhance their security and better manage their cash flow.
