   Fred Ruiz Appointed Executive Chef at The CasaMagna
Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort

PUERTO VALLARTA, México (June 12, 2003) - The CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort is pleased to announce they have appointed Fred Ruiz as their new Executive Chef. 

In his new position, Ruiz will be responsible for overseeing all food service operations, including developing new recipes and expanding upon existing recipes for the resort's four restaurants. 

"I am excited to be joining such a professional, well established Food & Beverage Team, and I look forward to integrating my personal techniques into the resort's current recipes and operations," said Ruiz. 

Previously, Ruiz was Executive Chef at the Denver Marriott Southeast. Prior to that position, Ruiz served as Executive Chef for the Chicago Marriott. 

Ruiz began his career with Marriott in 1981, as a storeroom clerk at the Rancho Las Palmas. He eventually advanced to Assistant Food Production Manager, directly contributing to the appointment of the resort as a five star property.  While at the Rancho Las Palmas, Ruiz cooked directly for Presidents Nixon, Ford & Reagan, as well as private parties hosted by Frank Sinatra, among other Palm Springs area stars. 

During his tenure in Chicago, Ruiz successfully competed in numerous American Culinary Federation Competitions, was recognized for having the most improved Food & Beverage leadership team in the mid-west region, and was named "Manager of the Year."  Most recently, while in Denver, Ruiz actively participated in functions sponsored by the Denver Marriott Business Council, helped kick-off the "Taste of the Nation" in conjunction with the Johnson & Wales Culinary School, and was chosen as the "Leader of the Quarter."  His department at the Denver Marriott recently scored a perfect 100 on the QA audit.
