Doubletree Recognizes Top Hotels for Excellence
in Hotel Performance During 2002
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - April 1, 2003 -- Doubletree recognized its properties for outstanding efforts in 2002 as part of the brand's Hotel Performance Awards Program, which was held March 18-21 during the Hilton Hotels Corporation's Full-Service Brand Conference in New Orleans. Eleven awards were presented to hotels chosen from the brand's 150 hotels across the U.S., Canada and Latin America. Each hotel received a trophy and individual recognition at specially planned celebratory receptions during the conference.

"Loyal Doubletree customers have consistently praised our hotels for a longstanding tradition of warm and caring service," said Dave Horton, senior vice president -- brand management for Doubletree. "Quality is the driver of success in our industry, and we are proud to present the Doubletree Hotel Performance Awards Program to acknowledge those hotels that have created an outstanding hotel experience, as well as encourage all of our properties to meet and exceed our guests' expectations."

Finalists for the Connie Awards and Doubletree Pride Awards were determined by two key components of the Doubletree Balanced Scorecard rating system: a Brand Consistency Index (a measurement of Physical Condition, Cleanliness, and compliance with Brand Standards) and Guest Loyalty Scores (a combination of three scores from Doubletree's Customer Loyalty Tracking Study).

CONNIE AWARDS

Named in honor of company founder Conrad Hilton, the top-performing hotel in each of the three Doubletree product lines with the highest overall hotel performance scores receives this distinct recognition:

  • DOUBLETREE HOTELS & RESORTS -- Doubletree Hotel & Conference Center, University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida
  • DOUBLETREE GUEST SUITES -- Doubletree Guest Suites Phoenix -- Gateway Center, Arizona

DOUBLETREE 2002 CARE CUP

Doubletree Hotel Durango, Colorado
The Doubletree 2002 CARE Cup, one of the most prestigious hotel performance awards presented by the brand, was proudly presented to the Doubletree Hotel Durango, Colorado. This hotel demonstrated consistent and exceptional performance on:

  • Quarterly summary reports (CARE Packets) they presented for each of the three qualifying quarters of 2002, which  illustrates how hotel team members care about their guests,  their team members and their local community.
  • The full-service hotel also scored consistently in the top 10% of the Doubletree Brand Promise Index -- a measurement of the Doubletree delivery of CARE Values to hotel guests.
DOUBLETREE CRYSTAL COOKIE AWARDS

Doubletree Crystal Cookie Awards are presented to those hotels who demonstrated outstanding service to their local community.

Doubletree Guest Suites Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina
During the unexpected and treacherous ice and snow storm that crippled the Carolinas in December of 2002, the team members at the Doubletree Guest Suites Raleigh-Durham turned misfortune into a triumph of teamwork and cooperation. During a four-day period, many team members performed double shifts to meet the needs of their customers. Because the ice and snow storm resulted in the largest single power outage in the state, team members continued to service their guests by making continuous trips up and down the hotel's stairs, served three meals a day despite the loss of power and even delivered needed items to guests from a local grocery store. Hotel guests were so impressed by this remarkable and seamless service that they grouped together and created a group thank you card they presented upon their departure.

Doubletree Hotel Durango, Colorado
During the firestorms that ravaged the West in early 2002, the team members at the Doubletree Hotel Durango were not untouched by the Missionary Ridge Fire that threatened their local community in Southwest Colorado. The entire hotel team pulled together not only to support and assist fellow family members, they also provided special support to area firefighters and offered members of the community discounted room rates. The hotel's CARE committee decided they wanted to do more for their community and conducted a fundraising sale of the brand's signature chocolate chip cookies that raised hundreds of dollars for Helping Hands -- a non-profit organization that assists both local firefighters and fire evacuees.
