- Grand Teton Lodge Company has introduced a new section on its web site
that is devoted to the company's environmental mission, policies and partnerships.
The detailed section at www.gtlc.com includes specific information on environmental
initiatives and recommendations for further activities.
"Grand Teton Lodge Company firmly believes that protecting and sustaining the natural environment is paramount to our success as a concessioner," said John Rutter, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Grand Teton Lodge Company. "We are privileged to live and work in one of the most exquisite natural environments in the country, and it is our mission to protect the long-term health and sustainability of the park." The new web pages spell out some of the initiatives undertaken by Grand Teton Lodge Company, and they also provide a series of practical ideas and programs involving partnership with the National Park Service and other organizations that are also committed to long-term preservation of our land and natural resources. Grand Teton Lodge Company is known for its innovative programs involving renewable energy, elimination of waste, protection of wildlife and environmental education targeting visitors and employees. Wyoming Wind Powers Jenny Lake Lodge As part of a strategy to utilize clean and renewable energy sources and an overall commitment to environmental excellence at each of their valley locations, the Grand Teton Lodge Company is purchasing enough wind-generated energy to power the Jenny Lake Lodge. GTLC Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Clay James announced the plan to flip the switch on wind power. "We recognize the special obligation we have at Grand Teton Lodge Company to seek out renewable energy opportunities and to also demonstrate to the public that protecting and preserving the Grand Teton National Park is a top priority. "Using wind energy is important to us for what it means to the environment, but in addition, it signals our dedication to being a leader in sustainable and conservation focused management for the future," James said. The wind energy initiative is one of the many environmental programs implemented by the Grand Teton Lodge Company as part of their commitment to environmental excellence. Grand Teton Lodge company will purchase the wind-generated power through Lower Valley Energy from wind farms located in southern Wyoming and the Foote Creek Two turbines near Laramie. Within Grand Teton National Park, Grand Teton Lodge Company manages lodging, restaurants, tours and activities at Jackson Lake Lodge, Jenny Lake Lodge and Colter Bay Village as well as the Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis Club in Jackson, Wyo.
