First New Resort Approved in Napa County in 20 Years -
The Carneros Inn, Napa Valley, Scheduled to Open
Early Fall 2003

NAPA, Calif. (March 20, 2003) - Carneros Partners, a San-Francisco based development group, today announced a projected opening date of early fall 2003, for The Carneros Inn, a new luxury resort located in the heart of Napa Valleys Carneros winegrowing district.  The Carneros Inn is the first new resort approved in more than 20 years in Napa County, and the first ever in the Carneros viticultural area.

The Carneros Inn project will provide visitors with world-class hospitality services amidst some of Californias most picturesque vineyard landscapes, as well as provide a town square for the Carneros community.
Although less than an hours drive from San Francisco, The Carneros Inn is a world apart, said Keith Rogal, founder and CEO of Carneros Partners.  It enjoys an extraordinarily beautiful natural setting, and is in an ideally central location for exploring the Napa and Sonoma wine country.

The Carneros Inn has been designed and developed according to the principles of Smart Growth and environmental best practices.  Thrifty with water and energy, the Inn will use state-of-the art water recycling technology and geo-thermal heating and cooling systems for every cottage.  The architecture and landscape were conceived to respect and reflect the agricultural heritage and unspoiled rustic beauty of the Carneros region.

The Carneros Inn project is being developed by Carneros Partners, long-term investor-owners who will also manage the resort and all its facilities.  Carneros Partners is a small, privately funded group with wide experience in environmentally and socially responsible land planning, hotel and residential development, and hotel and restaurant operations.  The design team assembled for The Carneros Inn was of the highest caliber, comprising renowned professionals with worldwide reputations for signature projects.  They include William Rawn Associates Architects (Boston), The Olin Partnership (Philadelphia), and Shopworks (Napa, Calif.).

The Carneros Inn will feature 96 charming, private guest cottages, each furnished with casual elegance and nestled in a lush garden courtyard; terrace dining and poolside lounging with panoramic vineyard views; architecturally dramatic restaurant, bar and spa facilities; and, most importantly, first-class service delivered with warmth and ease.

Our goal, said Rogal, is to create a place that is thoroughly refined yet unpretentious, an exceedingly comfortable get-away for a relaxing stay of any duration, as well as an ideal venue for a celebration, meeting, or any other special occasion.

The roomy cottages, each with its own gracious private patio and garden, will offer every guest a truly private retreat.  Each will combine the casual feeling of a sophisticated vacation house with all the conveniences of a top-flight hotel.

Design amenities include classic contemporary furniture chosen for comfort, an abundance of natural light from an array of true-divided light wood windows and French doors, cherry wood floors and real wood-burning fireplaces in stone hearths, vaulted ceilings, large-screen plasma TVs, outdoor gas heaters for cool fall evenings on the patio, luxurious bathrooms featuring slate and limestone detailing, indoor and outdoor showers, and in many cases, a soaking tub nestled under a garden-side casement that runs the length of the bath.  Each cottage will also have T-1 speed Internet access over Ethernet ports located in the room as well as on the front porch and back gardens.

In addition to the hotel accommodations, 24 stylish resort homes will be located on the grounds of The Carneros Inn.  Homeowners will have access to all the services and conveniences of the luxury hotel, including concierge, event planning and catering, and maid and room service.  Each of the 3-bedroom, 3½-bath luxury homes is organized around a gourmet kitchen/great room that opens out onto a large private courtyard designed for outdoor entertaining.  The homes also feature double-master floor plans with lavish bathrooms, roof-deck terraces and distinctive vineyard view towers.

The Carneros Inn project will re-establish a civic space for the Carneros community through the creation of a small town square, replete with a post office, bocce courts, and an outdoor fireplace around which community gatherings can occur.  The Inn itself will feature superb indoor and outdoor event space, including a private, tree-lined grove directly overlooking the adjoining vineyards, ideal for weddings or other special events.
The 27-acre resort will include a refined, guest-only fine dining restaurant in the tradition of a European country inn, a redwood bar, and an overlook patio situated at the propertys highest elevation.  Cuisine at the Inn will be based on fresh ingredients available in and around Carneros, seasoned with herbs and vegetables from the Inns own kitchen gardens.  Breakfast and lunch will be available to Inn guests, locals, and the general public in the roadhouse café just off of the Sonoma Highway.  The café will also feature a wide selection of Carneros wines as well as special small-lot productions from elsewhere in the region.

In addition to its many unique offerings, the Carneros Inn will provide all of the amenities expected from a luxury resort, including serene spa treatment rooms, airy exercise facilities with views of the rolling hills, swimming and hot pools, flexible meeting areas, and a wide array of garden areas.  The Inns central location is itself a notable amenity, with every winery in the Napa and Sonoma valleys within easy reach and scenic hiking, bicycling and canoeing only minutes away.
