Grand Teton Lodge Company Expands Membership
in the "Green" Hotels Association
GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK, February 11, 2003 - As part of its continuing commitment  to a variety of environmental programs, Grand Teton Lodge Company has expanded its membership in the "Green" Hotels Association to include all of its lodging operations. Grand Teton Lodge Company operates the 385-room Jackson Lake Lodge, 37-cabin Jenny Lake Lodge and 166-cabin Colter Bay Village.

The "Green" Hotels Association is devoted to promoting environmental initiatives at hotels and encourages member properties to conserve water and energy and reduce solid waste. The organization provides a variety of resources to its members such as signs encouraging guests to save energy to specific suggestions for conserving water and reducing solid waste.

"Our environmental initiatives run the gamut from a progressive program that uses wind-generated energy to power Jenny Lake Lodge to an employee-led program that confronts and overcomes challenges of operating a successful recycling program in a remote location," said John Rutter, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Grand Teton Lodge Company. "The strongest environmental programs in private industry include a clear commitment to environmental education, and our membership in the "Green" Hotels Association allows us to effectively educate both employees and guests.

Rutter cited Grand Teton Lodge Company's in-room lodging program that encourages guests to recyle, re-use towels and linens and turn off lights when they leave their guest rooms. "While these reminders and requests may seem obvious, we know that they are highly effective in steering our guests toward a preservation and conservation mindset," he said.

In addition to membership in the "Green" Hotels Association, the Grand Teton Lodge Company has undertaken a variety of environmental initiatives including wide-ranging water conservation programs, innovative recycling programs, progressive transportation planning, energy conservation and other environmental education programs.

Within Grand Teton National Park, Grand Teton Lodge Company manages lodging, restaurants, tours and activities at Jackson Lake Lodge, Jenny Lake Lodge and Colter Bay Village as well as the Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis Club in Jackson, Wyo.
