Mark Goller Named Executive Chef at
Deer Harbor on Orcas Island
The Resort at Deer Harbor Opens
Reinvented Starfish Grill

July 10, 2002- Seattle, WA - The intimate Resort at Deer Harbor on Orcas Island has recently reinvented its waterfront restaurant, Starfish Grill.  With new Northwest inspired culinary creations to please resort guests, the Northwest boating crowd or the casual traveler, this dockside jewel is ready to serve its guests. Start your dining adventure with crab napoleon then dig into stuffed sole or a tantalizing seafood curry as the main course.

Newly hired executive chef, Mark Goller brings to the dining table a variety of fusion cooking from around the world, but sticking to the traditions of Northwest cuisine. Chef Goller has an extensive background and training in the culinary arts. Prior to Starfish Grill, Chef Goller was Executive Chef for three years at the well-known mountain getaway, Mountain Springs Lodge in Leavenworth, Washington. Previously Goller spent four years with the rustic Sleeping Lady, also in Leavenworth. With his vast experience, Goller picked up know-how of Japanese fare due to his tenure at Seattles Nikko Restaurant, in the Seattle Westin Hotel and also worked on several cruise lines in a six-year period.

As of June 15, 2002 the management team of Seattle-based Columbia Hospitality, Inc. (CHI) will oversee the operations of the restaurant. CHI also manages the operations of the 26 cottages at The Resort at Deer Harbor.  Taking on the operations of the restaurant is a compliment to the success of sister properties in the CHI portfolio including, Friday Harbor House on neighboring San Juan Island and the award-winning The Inn at Langley on Whidbey Island. John Oppenheimer, president and CEO of Columbia Hospitality said, Starfish Grill now enables us to offer an extraordinary experience as well as an extraordinary menu to our guests at the resort.
