Hyatt International Assigns Five to
General Manager Posts
Chicago - July 2002 - Mr. Bernd Chorengel, president of Hyatt International Corporation, is pleased to announce the following general manager and executive appointments. 

Alfonso Jarquin has been appointed general manager of Hyatt Regency Merida. Jarquin joined Hyatt International in 1992 as director of rooms for Hyatt Regency Villahermosa where he was subsequently appointed director of sales and marketing in 1994.  Several years later he held positions with Fiesta Americana in Queretaro, Hermosillo, Guadalajara and Mexico City.  Jarquin rejoined Hyatt International in 2001 as director of rooms and marketing for Hyatt Regency Merida.

Harinder Singh has recently been appointed manager of Hyatt Regency Kathmandu.  She first joined Hyatt International on the Regency Club team of Hyatt Regency Delhi in 1983. Following further promotions to marketing and sales positions, Singh was appointed executive assistant manager, marketing in Delhi in 1999. 

Effective in August Tim Ananiadis will be general manager of Grand Hyatt Mumbai.  Ananiadis transferred to Hyatt International in 1999 from Hyatt Hotels Corporation where his 20-year career in the United States encompassed food and beverage management positions in New Orleans, Hilton Head, Nashville, Buffalo and Columbus.  He also served in corporate director of food and beverage and general manager positions in Pittsburgh, Coral Gables and Miami.  Ananiadis  first international appointment was general manager of Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki.

Juergon von Massow has been appointed general manager of Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki.  von Massow's career with Hyatt International began in 1988 when he was an outlet manager for Hyatt Regency Dubai.  After further assignments in food and beverage management in Colgne and Cancun he was appointed director of food and beverage in Guadalajara.  He joined the team of Hotel Aryaduta Jakarta in 1993 as executive assistant manager, food and beverage, and served as executive assistant manager rooms there before becoming general manager of Hyatt Regency Yogjakarta in 1996.  von Massow also has held general manager assignments in Mainz and Acapulco.

Joining Hyatt Regency Acapulco as general manager in August is Stefan Gaessler.  Gaessler joined Hyatt Hotels Corporation in 1991 as a corporate trainee at Hyatt Regency Chicago. Upon completion of the programme, he held assistant manager positions in beverages and catering.  Gaessler transferred to Cologne in 1992 as an outlet manager, and then held the position of assistant director of food and beverage in Rabat, Puerto Vallarta and Jakarta. He was promoted to director of food and beverage for Hyatt Regency Pusan in 1996 and, in 1998, joined Grand Hyatt Jakarta in the same position.  In 2000 Gaessler transferred to the position of executive assistant manager, food and beverage for Grand Hyatt Seoul.

There are 204 Hyatt Hotels and Resorts around the world, which are managed by two separate groups of companies.  Subsidiaries of Hyatt International Corporation operate 60 hotels and 22 resorts in 39 countries, with an additional 17 hotels under development.  Hyatt Hotels Corporation, a separate company, and its subsidiaries operate, lease and franchise 122 hotels and resorts in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.
