Former hospitality magazine editors team with
HSIA provider to speed awareness of wired and wireless connectivity solutions |
FREMONT, CALIF. AUG. 14, 2002 ARESCOM Inc., a global provider of
High-Speed Internet Access equipment for the Hospitality, Residential Property,
Telecommunication and ISP markets, has tapped the expertise of PRPRO, a
hospitality-specific public relations firm based in Cleveland, to speed
awareness of ARESCOM Hospitality Networks wired and wireless HSIA solutions
and related tech amenities.
When we began searching for a public relations and marketing firm to
help us boost business in the hospitality market, there was one company
that stood out from the rest for their contacts, content and costs PRPRO,
said Dave Egan, ARESCOM VP of Marketing. We met members of the PRPRO team
while at the Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition & Conference
in June and were immediately impressed. Everyone who passed them in the
aisles stopped to say hello, from hoteliers to media to other vendors.
We knew they were the right team for us.
PRPRO is a public relations and marketing-communications consulting
and services group that is truly in the know when it comes to the hospitality
industry. The team, comprised of Barb Worcester, PRPRO principal, and Account
Managers Marty Whitford, Robert Nozar and Bill Gillette, served on the
editorial
staff of HOTEL & MOTEL MANAGEMENT magazine and represent more than
40 years of combined hospitality industry experience. In addition to H&MM,
these veteran journalists have contributed articles to other respected
industry publications such as Lodging, Lodging F&B, E-Hospitality,
AAHOA Lodging Business, Lodging Real Estate, Corporate Meetings & Incentives,
Hotel Interactive, Hotel Business, Hospitality Technology and National
Hotel Executive. Worcester founded PRPRO in February 2001.
We all have known for a long time that relationships are key in this
industrynot only for getting the story, but for helping to implement
a successful public-relations campaign, Worcester said. We once walked
in the shoes of the media, so we know what editors consider newsworthy.
We want to share that knowledge and experience as the hotel industrys
go-to public-relations professionals.
Relationships are key
Because of their editorial background and longevity in the industry,
the PRPRO team has built coveted relationships with high-profile decision-makers
at the chains, management companies and industry associations, and they
network daily with the hospitality trade press and the vendor community.
Its not often we get the luxury of working with public relations and
marketing people who understand both our needs and the needs of the lodging
industry, said Ed Watkins, Editor of Lodging Hospitality. The PRPRO team
knows the business and how to work with hotel press reporters and editors.
Theyre thorough professional and effective.
Scott Anderson, president of High Country Hospitality, a Telluride,
Colo.-based hospitality management and technology consulting firm and former
executive vice president, Internet, travel division for the Cendant Internet
Group, said: PRPRO does an outstanding job. They are real professionals
that understand the complexities of both the hotel business and the technology
business. It is a hard combination to find in a PR firm.
PRPROs relationships will help to open doors to new customers and
new business partnerships, and also will help us spread the news out of
our wired and wireless solutions to the widest audience possible, Egan
said.
As an avid writer of hospitality technology editorials and Internet
connectivity overviews for hotels, Whitford will serve as the ARESCOM Account
Manager for PRPRO.
Although the number of solvent HSIA providers has dropped dramatically
in the hospitality industry, there still are a multitude of options available
to hoteliers, Whitford said. For years, we have helped hoteliers better
understand which connectivity options deliver the best ROI and why and
now were partnering with ARESCOM, the best of the best, to further our
HSIA education and promotion efforts.
Typically, hotels do not have the opportunity to purchase both hard
wired and wireless HSIA solutions from the same vendor, but ARESCOM offers
both ends of the spectrum and almost anything in-between to meet hotels
specific needs, Whitford said. At ARESCOM, HSIA is viewed as both an
occupancy builder and a money makerand hotels are lining up with us to
partner with this Silicone Valley leader.
Egan said with ARESCOMs DSL technology, hotels can use wired technology
in the guestroom and wireless in public areas with equal ease and minimal
expense.
ARESCOM
currently has a wired solutions installed at the Luxe Hotel in Beverly
Hills, and a wired and wireless solution is in use at the Hampton Inn in
Oakland, Calif. ARESCOM is in the process of installing 15,000 guestrooms
in the next 60 days using a combination of wired and wireless HSIA technologies.
