  Four Hospitality Industry Leaders Awarded
Honorary Doctorates at Johnson & Wales
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - May 24, 2002 - Four prominent leaders in the hospitality world received honorary degrees during commencement exercises at Johnson & Wales University�s five campuses. 
A total of 7,240 students graduated from Johnson & Wales University�s campuses in Providence, R.I.; Charleston, S.C.; Norfolk, Va.; North Miami, Fla.; and Denver, Colo.

At the Providence Campus: 
Wing T. Chao, executive vice president, Master Planning, Architecture and Design, Walt Disney Imagineering and vice chairman, Asia Pacific Development, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, Glendale, Calif. was awarded an honorary Doctor of Business Administration in Hospitality Management degree by the Johnson & Wales University Alan Shawn Feinstein Graduate School.

Paul M. McManus, president and CEO of The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd. received an honorary Doctor of Business Administration in Hospitality Management degree. McManus joined The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd., whose five-star hotels include The Breakers in Palm Beach and The Plaza in New York City, in 1992 as vice president of marketing. In his current role as CEO, McManus has concentrated on transforming the organization from a typical hotel representation model to a prestigious luxury marketing business. 

At the Norfolk Campus:
Reed S. Groban, executive chef and director of Food & Beverage at The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort in Scottsdale, Ariz., was awarded a Doctor of Business Administration in Hospitality Management. Groban has been with the AAA five-diamond resort since it opened in 1987, and under his leadership, its restaurants have garnered national acclaim.

At the Miami Campus:
John J. Arena, president and founding chairperson of Distinguished Restaurants of North America (DiRONA) and owner of John Arena Food and Beverage Consultants, received an honorary Doctor of Business Administration in Hospitality Management. DiRONA seeks to motivate restaurants to strive for consistent excellence and to assist consumers in locating the very best in distinguished dining.

The Hospitality College at Johnson & Wales boasts the largest enrollment nationally of students preparing for careers in international hotel and tourism management, hotel management, food and beverage management, sports/entertainment/event management and travel-tourism management. Students are currently enrolled in undergraduate and graduate degree programs in hospitality.
