Delta Air Liness Employees Expected to Book
Over 1 million Leisure Room Nights

June 18, 2002 - With summer travel expecting to be flat this summer, hotels across the globe are looking for new and cost effective marketing vehicles to increase revenues and new audiences to fill larger than usual amounts of empty rooms.  The question is who or what group of travelers are traveling?  The results from a recent survey conducted by ID90.COM show airline employees are traveling more this year than last.

ID90.COMs preliminary survey results* showed that their worldwide airline employee membership base is planning 3 or more trips in the next six months alone.   The survey also found that on average an airline employee books more than 11 hotel room nights each year and these same airline employees plan to rent a car at least 11 days in the coming year.

As explained by Tristan Schukraft, Managing Director of ID90.COM, There are millions of airline employees around the world.  If you take the 96,550 employees at Delta Air Lines (3rd largest in the US) for example, and times it by the average of 11 hotel room nights, it represents a buying power of over 1 million room nights a year and thats just one airline!  ID90.COM works with over a 150 airlines worldwide.

Hotel groups agree and are incorporating airline employees in their marketing plans, just ask Millennium Hotels & Resorts who just listed all their North American properties on ID90.COM.  Amanda Dennis, Vice President of e-Commerce and Distribution for Sceptre, Millenniums reservation distribution partner, said, Airline employees generally have the desire and the means to travel.  They have the ability to get from one point to another at the last minute, so it fits nicely with Millenniums strategy for surplus inventory. They also provide good word of mouth advertising as well as the potential for future group business.

ID90.COM is a worldwide travel portal dedicated for airline employees and their families, providing managers of hotels and other vacation supported businesses a great way to eliminate excess inventory and create additional exposure for themselves within the travel industry.  ID90 is the most recognized term in the airline industry.

In the coming weeks ID90.COM will have further demographics and details on the travel habits of airline employees when their complete survey results are ready.  But it seems, that this group of frequent flyers are NOT afraid or reluctant to fly and some property managers are capitalizing on this audience.

*  A total of 931 airline employees responded to ID90.COMs survey questions.  Survey results were averaged and numbers were rounded down.  Actual numbers were 3.45 trips, 11.36 room nights and 11.32 car rental days.  Blank responses were not counted and therefore not included in average.

ID90.COM is password protected and is promoted internally by airlines from around the globe.  Its worldwide members logon daily to locate accommodations, helping its family of worldwide travel partners fill empty rooms.  ID90.COM refers all members to each hotel and does not charge booking or commission fees.  For more information call 818-597-2510 or e-mail [email protected].
