Coral Coast Properties Developing a 75 room Luxury Resort
in Viti Levu, Fiji; To Be Managed by Rosewood
April 17, 2002 - Rosewood Hotels & Resorts announced today it has reached agreement with Coral Coast Properties Limited to manage a 75-room property under development in the South Pacific islands of Fiji. The announcement was made jointly by Jim Brown, president of Rosewood Hotels & Resorts and Mitch Hagerman, founder and managing partner of Coral Coast Properties.

The exclusive project, named Taunovo Bay, located on the south coast of Fiji's largest island, Viti Levu, will consist of thatched bures (cottage-style bungalows) over the Pacific Ocean, a small number of ultra elegant tree houses, and several rooms overlooking a saltwater lagoon -- all with stunning ocean views. In addition, the mixed use development will include 55 private beachfront estates.

"This will be Rosewood's first entree into the South Pacific and we are particularly pleased to be associated with a project whose mission is to bring design and amenities to a new level in ultra luxury hospitality," said Jim Brown.

"It has been our goal from day one to create a project that would attract a world-class management company. It is our intention to provide the well-heeled traveler with the ultimate in a resort destination. Working together with a company with Rosewood's reputation complements perfectly what we wish to achieve," said Mitch Hagerman.

The project will be ecologically friendly, with particular attention given to preserving the plethora of natural resources that make this particular region one of the most environmentally sustainable in the world. This, combined with a culture that is among the friendliest on earth, make this offering particularly attractive to potential guests and owners alike.

Special features of the project include a floatplane arrival direct to the property from Nadi International Airport. Amenities include a full-service 20,000 sq. ft. spa situated in the middle of a picturesque saltwater lagoon fed by the sea, a freeform pool, poolside cafe and bar, and a gourmet restaurant.  The property geography varies from dramatic hillsides to oceanfront panoramas.

Nadi is within nonstop air proximity to a number of countries, including 10 hours by nonstop air service from Los Angeles.

Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, manages properties on five continents worldwide, including The Carlyle in New York City, Badrutt's Palace in St. Moritz, Switzerland, Las Ventanas al Paraiso in Los Cabos, Mexico, and Hotel Seiyo Ginza in Tokyo.
