April 8, 2002 - "This Administration is continually
looking for ways to bring tourism jobs, growth and opportunity to Pennsylvania,"
Gov. Schweiker said. "These seven individuals surely will contribute to
the promotion of Pennsylvania's tourism industry because they recognize
that tourism is an economic- development tool that has far reaching effects
on Pennsylvania's economy."
The new members are: --

Edward F. Mayotte, President and CEO of Skytop Lodge
in Skytop, Monroe County, will be representing the hotel and motel industry;

Beverly K. Gruber, Executive Secretary for the Pennsylvania
Campground Owners Association in New Tripoli, Lehigh County, will be representing
private parks and camping;

William W. Moore, President and CEO for Independence
Visitor Center Corporation in Philadelphia, will be representing museums
and historical attractions;

Janice Price, President and CEO for the Regional
Performing Arts Center in Philadelphia, will be representing the arts and
theatre;

Skip Becker, Co-owner of Capitol Trailways and Rohrer
Tours and Charter Company, BBW Enterprises Inc., in Harrisburg, will be
representing motor coaches and travel agents;

Kevin Joyce, President and CEO of Kevin Joyce Restaurants
and Owner and Operator of The Carlton Restaurant in Pittsburgh, will be
representing the food and beverage establishments; and

Lisa H. Campbell, Director of Marketing for the Rockvale
Square Outlets in Lancaster, will be representing the shopping and outlet
shopping establishments.
Established March 17, 1997, the Council consists
of a group of private and public partners who advise the Governor on policies,
procedures, legislation and regulations that affect tourism in the Commonwealth.
Through the leadership of the Council, Pennsylvania's Five-Year Strategic
Tourism Master Plan was developed in 1999 to increase the visibility, competitiveness,
growth and benefits of Pennsylvania's tourism industry through the cooperative
actions of private and government sectors.
Consisting of 31 members, the Council is scheduled
to meet at least four times in 2002. Members will convene on April 9 and
June 7 in Harrisburg to address legislative and marketing issues that are
critical to the continued success of the travel and tourism industry.
Each new Council member's term expires in March
2003.
