FAIRFIELD, N.J., April 17, 2002 - Prime Hospitality Corp. (NYSE: PDQ)
has named Michael Marquez, Regional Vice President of Franchise Sales and
Development for its Western Region. Marquez, a veteran franchise
developer, will focus on growing the AmeriSuites and Wellesley Inns &
Suites hotel brands in markets such as California, Arizona, Colorado and
the Pacific Northwest.
"Michael brings ten years experience in new construction and conversion development to our corporation's dynamic growth plans." explains Jeff Williams, Senior Vice President of Franchise Sales and Development for Prime, to whom Mr. Marquez will report. "His knowledge of and familiarity with these markets will be a definite asset to our expansion into the west." Mr. Marquez will office in Denver. Mr. Marquez comes to Prime from Candlewood Hotel Company where he was Director of Franchise Development covering the western and north central states, winning their 2001 Pinnacle Award for Salesman of the Year. Prior to that, he managed similar territories and won sales awards for Choice Hotels and HFS. He is a 1988 graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder where he excelled as an All Big 8 running back in football. (R), one of the nation's premiere lodging companies, owns manages, develops
and franchises 240 hotels throughout the United States. The Company
owns and operates two proprietary brands, AmeriSuites(R) (all-suites) and
Wellesley Inns & Suites(R) (limited service). Also within Prime's
portfolio are owned and/or managed hotels operated under franchise agreements
with national hotel chains including Hilton, Radisson, Sheraton and Holiday
Inn.
