Starwood Appoints Elaine Fenard to Vice President,
Spa Development & Operations

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y April 3, 2002 -Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE:HOT), one of the world's premier owners and managers of spas, announced today the appointment of Elaine Fenard as vice president, spa development & operations. 

In this newly created position, Fenard will be responsible for operations throughout Starwood's spa facilities in North America. She will also manage all new spa development projects. Fenard will report directly to Glenn Tuckman, senior vice president, North American hotel operations. 

Starwood's diverse portfolio of destination spas and spa facilities boasts some of the most highly rated in the country. The Center for Well-Being at The Phoenician in Scottsdale, Arizona, the Lodge at Koele in Lanai, Hawaii and The Princeville Resort in Kauai, Hawaii, were recently featured on Conde Nast Traveler's 2002 40 Best Spas in North America List. Starwood's collection of spa facilities in the U.S. are complemented by an impressive portfolio of international spas including The Turnberry Hotel, Golf Courses and Spa, A Westin Hotel, Ayrshire, Scotland and the soon-to-open Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa in French Polynesia.

Fenard is a seasoned executive with more than twenty years of experience in the spa industry. She began her career with Coiffeur Transocean Inc., an international management company (acquired by Steiner Management Services in 1996), as manager of spa operations. Fenard advanced rapidly during her tenure with the company, and was ultimately named senior vice president of operations where her responsibilities included overseeing a diverse range of spa facilities around the world. Most recently Fenard served as a consultant for Steiner Maritime Services where she directed all phases of daily operations for the Disney Magic and Wonder Vista Spas. 

Fenard has a comprehensive background in the spa industry commencing with a five-year apprenticeship with Raymond of London, and City & Guilds certification from the Pontypridd College of Further Education.
