Bük

Thirty years ago oil prospectors in the region hit not oil but thermal water, which came rushing to the surface at a temperature of 58 °C. This event was followed by rapid development in what had been till then a sleepy little settlement and surroundings 27 km north-east from Szombathely, in Vas County. A medicinal baths was built capable of receiving several thousand visitors a day, and summer houses and hotels popped up one after the other.

Today Bük is perhaps Hungary's most dynamically developing spa, equally suited to the patient seeking treatment and young people looking for relaxation and entertainment. The golf course in Bük is not only Hungary's but Central Europe's largest

programs and facilities, including a jacuzzi, sauna, several swimming pools and steam baths.  Guests will also be able to choose from diverse therapies, traditional and Asian massages, healing baths and a range of fitness classes.  The center will also have a separate fitness area, including a solarium, tennis courts, and jogging tracks.

The 18-hole golf course will be enlarged with an additional 9 holes to become a 27-hole course.  Furthermore, there will be an 18-hole putting course with a Golf & Tennis Academy Center.

World-renowned firm Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo (WATG) has been appointed as the architects and designers of the project.

Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts, said, "Our new resort in Bük represents an excellent addition to our growing collection of golf & wellness resorts and will furthermore strengthen our presence in the region.  It will also benefit from the synergy and proximity to our existing hotels in Vienna, Budapest and Bratislava."

Attila J. Hegyi, President & CEO of Birdland and Hungaria Golf, said, "It is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate to the world that we strongly believe in the importance that wellness and golf in the heart of Europe plays in the future of the tourism industry.  We are very proud to have Radisson SAS as partner."
