Intrawest's $350 million, 22-acre Village at Mammoth
Now in the Ninth Month of Construction
-
MAMMOTH LAKES, Calif. Intrawest, the Canadian Corporation known for its pioneering of themed resort villages at such destinations as Whistler / Blackcomb in British Columbia and Copper Mountain in Colorado, is now in the ninth month of construction of the $350 million, 22-acre Village at Mammoth.  The Village is one of three neighborhoods of a 240-acre development collectively referred to as Project Sierra.

More than 100 condominiums have been sold in the 166-unit first phase of The Village, with prices ranging from $300,000 to $1 million for the one, two and three bedroom condominiums.

The long-awaited Village at Mammoth is comprised of Lincoln House and White Mountain Lodge, centerpieces of this unique pedestrian village.  The two buildings combine condominiums on the top floors and restaurants and distinctive shops, below.  The facades were designed to resemble grand alpine lodges.  A centrally located, high-speed 15-passenger gondola, the first of its kind in the West will take skiers from The Village to the mountain.

Douglas Ogilvy, vice president of Intrawest Resort Development, which is collaborating on the project with Dave McCoy, founder of Mammoth Mountain, says that the three neighborhoods that will form Project Sierra are designed to enhance residents¹ quality of life and attract visitors that Mammoth Lakes had lost to other major ski resorts in the 1980s and 90s.

"We¹ve taken care to ensure that the aesthetics and character of the area are reflected in the design and construction of The Village.  The appeal for prospective buyers is a pleasurable lifestyle in which four-season recreation is just outside their front doors, yet they¹re within driving distance of major Southern California cities," he says.

He adds that with American Airlines¹ intention to inaugurate air service from Northern and Southern California, owners and visitors to Mammoth Lakes will find it much easier to reach the destination.

Other Intrawest projects include: Panorama, British Columbia, Canada; Tremblant, Quebec, Canada; Blue Mountain, Ontario, Canada; Mont St. Marie, Quebec, Canada; Stratton, Vermont; Snowshoe Mountain, West Virginia; and Mountain Creek, New Jersey.
