Fifteen Rema Brand Hotels in Germany
to be Relagged Mercure

Paris, 17 January 2002 - 15 new hotels (1,320 rooms), of which 12 franchises and 3 under lease, have been added to Accor hotel portfolio in Germany. These establishments, presently operated under the Rema brand name, will join the Mercure network in April 2002. 

This operation further confirms Accor�s role as a consolidator in the European hotel market.

The hotels are located primarily in the heart of major German cities:  Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfort, Hamburg, Leipzig, Nuremberg, Stuttgart, etc. 

Two hotels in Berlin and Kaiserslautern are presently under construction, and will open in the Spring of 2002.

Accor further strengthens its leading position in the German hotel market, now with 273 hotels operated under the Sofitel, Novotel, Mercure, Ibis, Etap Hotel and Formule 1 brands, and more than 25 openings planned in 2002.

Mercure, the leading name in midscale hotels in Germany, continues to develop in this country and now operates over 100 establishments. The objective is to reach 150 hotels under the Mercure brand name by 2005. Mercure hotels are mainly located in city centers, and exemplify hotel traditions and regional customs.
