Club, a 166-unit Condominium Hotel, Select Boykin Hospitality as Management Company |
February 25, 2002 - Boykin Hospitality, one of the industrys most
successful and respected management companies has been awarded a contract
to operate one of South Floridas newest resorts.
Boykin Hospitality, a privately-held company based in Cleveland, has
taken over management of Ocean Point Resort and Club, a luxury 166-unit
condominium hotel affiliated with the SRS World Hotels Deluxe Collection.
The resort is in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, about 25 minutes from the
Fort Lauderdale and Miami International airports.
Rick Spillett, chairman of Kelco, said Kelco will focus its efforts on growing its core business. While we have elected to turn over operations to Boykin, Kelco principals retain a significant ownership interest in the resort, Spillett said. We chose Boykin for its beachfront resort expertise in Florida and its national resources. Griffin said past experience led her to Boykin. I have hired Boykin twice before to assist me with lodging assets and its experience gives ownership a strong comfort level, Griffin said. Specifically, for this property, Boykin has had a great deal of success in running beachfront resorts and the owners and I were eager to see that type of experience running this property. Griffin said Boykin was an obvious candidate to run the property because of its attention to detail and the accessibility of top management. Boykin Hospitality runs properties it has in third-party management contracts as if it has equity interest in those properties, Griffin said. Boykins long history of success is important to a property owner. Grant Sabroff, Boykin Hospitalitys senior vice president of business development, said the company is focused on serving the needs of third-party owners. We have a proven record in enhancing value on under-performing properties and we are thrilled to bring our full resources and capabilities to Ocean Point. Our strength in sales and marketing, yield management and cost control, coupled with our purchasing power will make a noticeable difference to the property owner, Sabroff said. Our ability to customize our financial reporting will not only serve the needs of the Ocean Point property owner but will make it easy for us to interface with the condominium association and the unit owners. This is a market that has been affected more than most by the terrorist attacks of September 11, a weakened economy and a general decline in travel, Boykin said. We are prepared to meet the needs of lodging owners who are faced with difficulties that are unprecedented in the lodging industry. Our strength is the attention we give to the bottom line, the guests, and the property owners. Boykin Hospitality is ready to help lead hotel owners through these troubled times. Ocean Point is a 27-story condominium hotel featuring a mix of studio and over-sized one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites with oceanfront and intercoastal views. The resorts suites range in size from a 400 square foot studio unit to a 1,900 square foot three-bedroom suite. All suite units offer spectacular ocean views from every terrace with each containing a dining and living room, full kitchen, Jacuzzi baths and separate showers, complete in-room entertainment center with video and CD library, washer/dryer and multi-line, touch-tone telephones with speed dial access. Ocean Point provides its owners and guests with four-star level amenities including The View - a fine dining restaurant; an open air contemporary lounge, a European health spa with beach and poolside treatment services, a full fitness/exercise center with state-of-the-art cardiovascular machines, and The Market - a gourmet market/deli. The resorts recreational facilities include a free-form pool with a 25-foot waterfall, two outdoor Jacuzzis, beachfront cabanas, and a beach club providing guests with complimentary use of non-motorized watercrafts on its 205 of linear beachfront.
