Mark Hagopian and Charles Hajjar Convert an 1886
Residence in Boston's Back Bay into 33 Room Boutique,
The Charlesmark Hotel

December 4, 2001 - The month of January heralds the opening of The Charlesmark Hotel, a charming European-style boutique hotel with state-of- the-art amenities, warm personal attention, and competitive rates for both business and leisure travelers. The two founders, Mark Hagopian and Charles Hajjar, identified a shortage of hotel accommodations of this type in Boston, and teamed up to create a hotel that is centrally located and luxurious, but more intimate than most luxury hotels.

Located at 655 Boylston Street in Boston's prestigious Back Bay, the Charlesmark Hotel features 33 rooms with a "classic modernism" decor. The Charlesmark's competitive rates spell outstanding value for guests.

Originally built in 1886 as a private residence in the heart of Boston's exclusive Back Bay neighborhood, the Charlesmark has been completely renovated.  The hotel's 33 rooms were individually designed and decorated by Dennis Duffy, of Duffy Design Group, to create a soft modern motif with a residential feel.  Each guest room is uniquely styled with custom-made furniture, light-toned woodwork, imported Italian tile, and elegant European lighting fixtures. They also feature state-of-the-art amenities including stereo systems with compact disc players, 25-inch color televisions with VCRs, cordless phones with voicemail, and Internet dataports.

Hajjar and Hagopian believe that the Charlesmark Hotel's luxury, intimacy and personal attention will make it the destination-of-choice for business and leisure travelers. "We made it a priority to handpick our staff from the Back Bay area, so that they are knowledgeable about our city, and can make solid recommendations for dining, arts and entertainment, based on personal experience," said Hagopian. "At the Charlesmark Hotel, guests simply get more for their dollar -- the comforts of home, personalized service, attention to detail, individual style and sophistication, generous amenities -- all in a prime location."

The hotel's entrance faces the finish line of the world famous Boston Marathon. Charlesmark guests will stay just two short blocks from the Hynes Convention Center, a one-minute walk from Copley Place Mall, and the fashionable shops, galleries, and cosmopolitan restaurants of Newbury Street.  The hotel is within walking distance from Fenway Park, the Theatre District, and Boston Symphony Hall. The Copley MBTA station, located across the street from the Charlesmark, provides public transportation to Boston's financial district, Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market, Government Center, the Fleet Center, and the historic North End.
