  Five Best Western Hotels Re-flagged
as WestCoast Hotels
SPOKANE, Wash., Sept. 25, 2001 - WestCoast Hospitality Corporation (NYSE: WEH) has announced that after recent upgrades to several former Best Western Hotels they will be re-flagged as WestCoast Hotels (a division of WestCoast Hospitality Corporation). These hotels are located in Twin Falls and Post Falls, Idaho; Helena and Kalispell, Montana; and Hillsboro, Oregon.

The hotels' re-branding will not only benefit core business practices, it will be an advantage to each individual community as a whole. On Sept. 28th, the hotels' signage will be changed over to the WestCoast Hotels brand.

Re-flagged properties and their new names

  • WestCoast Hillsboro Hotel was formerly the Best Western Hillsboro Hotel
  • WestCoast Templin's Resort was formerly the Best Western Templin's Resort
  • WestCoast Twin Falls Hotel was formerly the Best Western Twin Falls Hotel
  • WestCoast Colonial Hotel was formerly the Best Western Colonial Hotel
  • WestCoast Outlaw Hotel was formerly the Best Western Outlaw Hotel
How did this change of name and brand come about? WestCoast Hotels' development teams seek out under-serviced hotels in the West. ``WestCoast Hotels has 46 properties throughout the west, with more coming on board,'' said David Bell, Executive Vice President of Development for WestCoast Hotels. ``Our franchisees, as well as owned and managed properties, benefit greatly by our aggressive purchasing programs and management expertise yet we are still able to provide the personalized service that is difficult for much larger chains to deliver.''

The re-flagged hotels with WestCoast receive the added sales strength of a collective sales force of over 100 salespeople. Each sales group focuses on selling to the following market segments for WestCoast Hotels: convention / group, corporate/contract, team, tour/travel, government and leisure. Each sales person is responsible for selling to a particular market segment thus becoming an expert in that area.

The hotels can take full advantage of the strengths of WestCoast Hotels' combined entertainment and lodging reservation system, upgraded amenities and marketing exposure. On the average WestCoast properties receive 25% of their annual room revenue through the Central Reservation Office (CRO). Many national chains average around 10% from their CRO. A fully integrated on-line reservations system at www.westcoasthotels.com has been created for guests allowing them real time reservations with instant confirmation. Additionally, the widespread exposure each hotel receives through WestCoast Hotels brand marketing is good not only for the hotels, but also for the communities where they are located.

"Our communities deserve to have the best hotel service around, WestCoast Hotels provides us with the ability to attract more business travelers and vacation travelers to our areas,'' said Peggy Van Wagner, General Manager for the newly branded WestCoast Twin Falls Hotel. ``The advanced reservations systems, sales support and personalized service provided by WestCoast Hotels will build greater success for our hotel in Twin Falls.''

"It is important for Hillsboro's economy to attract people to our community, especially from the Portland, Oregon area. WestCoast Hotels has the sales teams and promotional support to help drive more people to my hotel,'' said Anne Grothe, General Manager for the newly branded WestCoast Hillsboro Hotel.

WestCoast Hospitality Corporation owns, manages and franchises full-service hotels in nine Western states. WestCoast Hotels are three and four-diamond properties that focus on serving business, convention and leisure travelers.
