“Best in Class” Conference Center

Leesburg, Virginia, November 2017 … The National Conference Center has been awarded its seventh meeting and tourism award for 2017. Northstar Meetings Group, which is one of the leading publishers in meetings and events space, awarded The National Conference Center the 2017 Stella Award for “Best in Class” Conference Centers.

The Stella Awards, honoring excellence in the meetings industry, recognize suppliers that consistently deliver quality service and innovation to meetings and events worldwide. The Stella Awards (Stella is a derivative of the Latin word “star”) is a new, comprehensive program that redefines how excellence in the meetings industry is identified and celebrated.

Northstar Meetings Group, which publishes Successful Meetings and Meetings & Conventions, bestowed honors in 18 categories and among six regions this month in the Stella Awards. Finalists were determined by industry professionals irrespective of nominees' advertising history during an open voting period.

“Team National is honored to receive this prestigious award and we are very much aware of the importance of referral business and online reviews. This award solidifies our commitment to excellence and a work ethic of 'Never Quit', as voters have stated,” said Geoff Lawson, Vice President and General Manager of The National Conference Center.

The trophy case at The National is getting full, as this is the tenth award the facility has received this year. The full list of awards are:

-Meetings Today, Trendsetter, Mary Watson-DeLauder, Chief Wine Officer, featuring forward-thinking planning professionals, educators and suppliers.

-Smart Meetings, Smart Star Award

-Visit Loudoun Tourism Awards showcasing work, service, creativity and contributions to advancing tourism in Loudoun County:

-Ambassador Tourism Award: Jamil Chaudhry, Bellman -Tourism Action Award: Project Search Initiative -Tourism Branding, Marketing or Promotional Campaign of the Year: Go Big Campaign

-Loudoun County Public Schools, Partner of the Year for The National's work with Riverside High School. The National actively supports the school, which is located nearby, hosting complimentary events for the teachers, supervisors and administration, and providing judges for the school’s cooking contest. The National has also provided jobs and education to students in the culinary department of Riverside High School.

-Virginia School Board, Business Partner of the Year

-Virginia Restaurant, Travel, Lodging Association, Hotel of the Year 2017

The award-winning National Conference Center has been under new management since 2014 and continues its “Irreversible Momentum” with renovations, outdoor meeting and event space and the latest technology. The National is the largest conference center in Virginia with 265,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
