Frankfurt am Main, 7 June 2017 – The Europäischer Hof Baden-Baden, the founding hotel of Steigenberger Hotels AG, is currently undergoing extensive renovation and conversion works. Developer Martin Buchli, Baden Baden’s Mayor Margret Mergen, Head Architect Peter W. Kruse and Matthias Heck, CFO of Steigenberger Hotels AG, were all on hand today to attend the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone for the new build of the Luise Wing of the hotel. Once complete, this part of the building will house an elegant arcade of shops, 45 rooms and suites and a roof top glass pavilion offering a terrace. Until the scheduled reopening in 2019, the hotel’s inner courtyard will also be redesigned so as to expose the main historic building in all its glory. The Europäischer Hof will provide a total of 122 rooms and suites once the conversion and renovation programme has been concluded. There will also be several bars and restaurants to meet all the culinary needs of the guests as well as a spa and gym area extending over an area of around 900 square metres. Four conference rooms will be available.

The Europäischer Hof Baden-Baden will once again be operated by Steigenberger Hotels AG when it reopens. This means that the company’s original founding hotel will remain in the portfolio of Deutsche Hospitality, the umbrella brand of Steigenberger Hotels AG, for at least a further 20 years. CFO Matthias Heck stated: “The Europäischer Hof Baden-Baden has a special significance for our company group. In 1930, Albert Steigenberger launched our success story by taking over the hotel. This makes us even more delighted that the Europäischer Hof will emerge from this comprehensive renovation project as a modern and innovative hotel which also remains true to its original character by exuding luxury and tradition.”
