MIAMI, FL – JUNE 2017 – The family-owned, South Florida-based management company, SMS Lodging, continues to expand its growing portfolio with the recent acquisition of Hotel St. Augustine in Miami Beach. Purchased in April, SMS Lodging will oversee all aspects of the property, including operations, sales, marketing, and reservations.

Situated at 347 Washington Avenue — directly behind The Julia, a new-build boutique property also owned by SMS Lodging and slated to open in July — Hotel St. Augustine plans to increase its inventory, which will bring the hotel room count from 24 to more than 45. SMS Lodging plans to implement value-adding amenities to enhance the guest experience, such as complimentary continental breakfast. The property has also been added to SMS Lodging’s new call center to allow for seamless bookings and improved customer service. Travel agents are eligible to earn up to 15% commission on all bookings made through the new reservation center.

As part of the company’s expansion plans in Miami Beach, SMS Lodging also acquired Hotel Coloretta, a 3,800 square foot, all-studio property next door to St. Augustine, which will be operated as part of the hotel, increasing SMS’ inventory in Miami Beach to more than 100 rooms.

Located in South Beach’s South of Fifth, or “SoFi” neighborhood, a burgeoning enclave of restaurants and shops, Hotel St. Augustine is an affordable, modern boutique hotel featuring loft-style guest rooms, complete with custom-milled Maplewood furnishings and spacious bathrooms.

Centrally located within walking distance to the beach, restaurants, shops, and nightlife, the property is an ideal accommodation choice for travelers seeking to enjoy the best of South Beach.

“Hotel St. Augustine is a perfect addition to our roster to complement our existing portfolio,” said Gustaf Arnoldsson, CFO of SMS Lodging. “With its close proximity to The Julia and central location, we look forward to enhancing and maximizing guests’ experience, while improving management and operations. Additionally, now that we have more than 100 rooms in the Miami and Key West markets, we are eager to leverage this inventory and effectively cross-sell our properties, allowing for our customers to seamlessly combine their Miami and Key West vacations.”

Hotel St. Augustine brings SMS Lodging’s hotel count to a total of nine in South Florida, as the company also owns, manages, and/or operates several boutique properties and inns in Key West and Miami.
