July 22–A hotel company has purchased land at Eastchase to build a new Hilton Garden Inn, part of a burst of new development in the east Montgomery retail hub.

Columbus, Ga.-based Ram Hotels bought a 2.7-acre parcel on Eastchase Parkway adjacent to the Hampton Inn to build the new hotel, developers Jim Wilson & Associates and ALFA Realty announced Monday. The planned 109-room, four-story facility will feature a fitness center, complimentary Wi-Fi and a pool, as well as a Hilton Garden Grill restaurant.

The company plans to start construction in late 2014.

With space still in demand, work is underway nearby on another expansion to the Eastchase development that will include a new shopping center and a Japanese steakhouse.

The new Selas Drive thoroughfare at the intersection of Eastchase Parkway and Eastchase Lane will make room for a 7,300-square-foot Kobe Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Bar as well as other new shops.

Kobe specializes in steak, chicken and seafood dishes prepared at the table. It’s scheduled to be completed next spring.

Jim Wilson & Associates said in a release that “several” more tenants are coming to the Eastchase Station development when it’s finished, and that they will be new to the Montgomery region. Developers Terra Equities and Allen Hawkins expect construction to be finished this fall.

“Coming to Eastchase was important and provides an outstanding venue for new and well-known retail venues,” Hawkins said.
