SAN JOSE, CA— (January 2016) — Hotel De Anza, A Destination Hotel, perfectly located in the heart of downtown San Jose, debuts its brand new and much-anticipated revival this month. The historic hotel, which first opened in 1931, has been a landmark and a piece of history in the city of San Jose for nearly 85 years. All of the public areas, meeting and event space and 100 guestrooms and suites in the hotel, have undergone a complete transformation that blends the beloved historical Art Deco elements of the property with a contemporary and sophisticated design that will be sure to delight and surprise.

Design firm HFS Concepts4 paid careful attention to paying homage to the nostalgia of the renowned era when the hotel was built—The Roaring 20’s and De Anza’s beginnings in the Jazz Age while simultaneously looking to the future. The beloved 25-foot “diving lady” was originally painted on the West side of the building in 1951 to promote the hotel’s heated pool, and it remains a local attraction today. The rooftop neon sign carries as much notoriety as the famed diver and has remained unchanged.

Upon entering the lobby, guests will delight in the chic palette of fabrics, colors and textures set against the backdrop of Art Deco architecture, exuding a feeling of timeless elegance. A gorgeous new community table outfitted with ample electrical outlets sits adjacent to the oversized floor-to-ceiling windows, providing guests with a light and airy place to answer emails, charge their devices or enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning. Guests will also be treated to a nightly wine hour in the lobby, featuring wines local to the region.

All areas of the guestrooms and suites have been decorated with contemporary fixtures and materials, from the drapes to the carpeting and bedding— right down to the lampshades and artwork. Designed with a palette of grays, and creams with splashes of lavender and deep purples throughout, coupled with dark wood and silver metallic finishes, the rooms provide a sophisticated retreat just steps away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The brand new spa-like bathrooms were designed to provide ample counter space for getting ready before a business meeting or night out on the town. Perfect for work or play, all guestrooms are equipped with plush bedding, High Speed Wi-Fi, iHome clock radio, ample power and USB outlets, Illy coffee maker, refrigerator, NEST bath products, a work desk and much more. For a truly over-the-top experience, guests can book the 1,230-square foot penthouse on the 10th floor of the hotel. Reminiscent of a sophisticated urban apartment, the space is stylishly appointed with an oversized bathroom with a steam room and Jacuzzi tub, wood-burning fireplace, two balconies, wet bar and spacious living room.

The hotel’s four-star contemporary Italian restaurant, La Pastaia has been a favorite for locals, business people and guests for more than two decades. The restaurant, featuring an open kitchen and wood-burning pizza oven, has been refreshed with new furniture and textiles. Due to its popularity and high demand, La Pastaia Café located off of the hotel lobby has been expanded and provides guests and locals alike with fantastic “grab and go” options throughout the day. The Hedley Club Lounge, a favorite hangout for locals, features an extensive cocktail list and live jazz Wednesdays through Saturdays, once again tying back to the hotel’s original roots.

Hotel De Anza is a perfect location for meetings, social events and weddings. The property offers five flexible meeting and event spaces, all of which were refreshed in 2015, that can accommodate up to 200 guests. The Palm Court Terrace is a Mediterranean-inspired space with tiled fountains and high ceilings perfect for weddings and celebrations.

Hotel De Anza is just minutes from the city’s best shopping and dining experiences, the San Jose Convention Center, SAP Center, San Jose International Airport and the new Levis’ Stadium, home to the San Francisco 49ers. San Jose is steeped in culture, history and, of course, technology, offering something for everyone—whether it’s The Tech Museum of Innovation, History Park, shopping n Santana Row, wine tasting or taking in a sporting event.
