Impressive Double Digit Committed Occupancy and ADR Increases Lead the Path to Victory

NEW YORK – January 15, 2015 – While no one can be sure who will win the 2015 NFL Championship, one thing is for certain, hotels in the greater Phoenix, Arizona area are already winning big, according to data from TravelClick, a global provider of innovative cloud-based solutions that enable hotels to grow revenue. Overall committed occupancy and average daily rates (ADR) are showing significant increases, up 68 percent and 89 percent respectively, for hotels around the Big Game (January 29- February 2), according to TravelClick’s forward-looking hotel data.

For local hoteliers, the upcoming NFL Championship Super Weekend is the biggest sporting event of the year and hotels are looking to cash in as thousands of visitors descend into the Phoenix area for all the fun and excitement. Group travelers, typically made up of larger corporations that reserve large blocks of rooms and use the event as a marketing and business development opportunity, are betting on a great match up. Committed occupancy for this segment is up a whopping 109 percent and ADR is up 89 percent. TravelClick’s business intelligence indicates the group segment is coming into Phoenix early to enjoy pre-game festivities.

The transient segment is also showing overall growth into the Phoenix market. Hotels are expecting occupancy gains of 36 percent and ADR up 96 percent for visitors staying over Sunday night of the Big Game.

TravelClick expects hotels to continue to experience increases in transient bookings over the coming weeks and local hotels will be rooting for the likes of the Green Bay Packers, Seattle Seahawks, Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots to reach the NFL Championship Game as fans typically coming from cold weather destinations show up in droves to support their team and bask in the warm Arizona sun.

“For many, attending the NFL Championship Game is a once in a lifetime opportunity and it is clear that Phoenix-area hotels are leveraging this major corporate event to their advantage,” said John Hach, Senior Vice President, Global Product Management, TravelClick. “We expect these numbers to increase, particularly for the transient segment, as the weekend draws near and fans of the final two playoff teams make reservations closer to game time.”
